Thaddeus and Serana stood before a modest cottage, nestled in a valley far from any civilization.
The structure was simple. Stone walls. Thatched roof. A small garden plot that had gone wild from neglect. Windows with glass. A chimney that suggested working fireplace inside.
Modest was generous. Adequate might be more accurate.
Thaddeus's eyes swept across the property, taking in every detail. The isolation. The defensive limitations. The sheer ordinariness of it.
"We'll be living here?" His tone carried disbelief.
"Shut the fuck up, bloodsucker!" Lilith's voice snapped from beside them, her childlike form practically vibrating with irritation.
"Be grateful with what you got! Do you have any idea how hard it was to find a place far enough from demon territory that my subjects won't accidentally stumble across you, but close enough that I can visit without major inconvenience?!"
