Marie's POV
I sat on the edge of my bed, holding the letter again. The same one I had found in the drawer. I had read it so many times that the paper had started to get too creased. The words still didn't make sense to me.
"What did he mean by 'let's bring the Valenti and de Luca names together, not just in business, but in blood?" I asked aloud. "
Did that mean me? Was I just a part of some deal?
I closed my eyes. If my father truly wrote this, then everything I believed about him was a lie. Maybe that was why he cut off contact after the wedding with the other families, because he had already planned something like this in the first place. He was actually too ashamed to admit it, or he was afraid Mancini would tell me about it if he pushed too hard for him to let me go.
But I couldn't sit here guessing. I needed answers. I needed to see him.
I went to the drawer and pulled out paper and a pen. >
