Chapter 7 - Ball Partner

IVY'S POV

Our class leader gathered us with a thrilling announcement about the upcoming welcome ball, and I could hardly contain my excitement. Eagerly, I raised my hand and asked, "Can teachers be our partners for the ball? Just curious!" She grinned at me and replied, "Of course!" then walked out of the classroom. A wave of ideas rushed through my mind, and I couldn't help but giggle. Just then, Miss Elara walked in, looking as radiant as ever.

"I have some exciting news! Next week, we will hold a welcome ball for the freshmen. You all can choose your partners and prepare your dance performances. The theme and dress code will be sent to your respective emails," she announced, her eyes bright. Then, looking directly at me, she added, "Remember, you can ask your teachers to be your partner too." Our eyes locked, and I felt a blush creeping up my cheeks as I shyly looked away.

As the day progressed, I found it hard to concentrate in class, the anticipation for the ball buzzing in my mind. Once the final bell rang, signaling the end of the day, most students darted out of the classroom, but I lingered. Gathering my courage, I approached Miss Elara. "Who's your partner for the ball?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me. She smiled warmly and replied, "None at the moment." Feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness, I asked hesitantly, "Then will you be my ball partner?"

"Sure! I don't have a partner, so I'll accept your proposal," she said playfully, her laughter making my heart race. "It's next week, so how about we go shopping tomorrow if that works for you?" I suggested, eager to get the planning started. "Sure, after classes is fine," she agreed, and we parted ways for the day, excitement buzzing between us.

**The Next Day**

After classes the following day, Miss Elara and I made our way to the boutique. The theme for the ball was royal, complemented by feather eye masks, and I couldn't wait to explore our options. As we walked, I daydreamed about the dance, the laughter, and the unforgettable memories that awaited us at the gala.

Breaking the comfortable silence, Miss Elara remarked, "We've reached Ivy," drawing me back to reality. "Okay, let's go dress hunting!" I exclaimed with enthusiasm.

We spent hours exploring the boutique, filled with dresses that seemed to shimmer and shine just waiting for the right occasion. The atmosphere was light, filled with laughter and shared enthusiasm, and before we knew it, the sun was setting. Exhausted from our shopping adventure, we decided to grab a bite at a nearby restaurant.

As we sat down with our food, our conversation shifted to the bigger topics of life. We talked about dreams, aspirations, and challenges, sharing our thoughts and perspectives in a way that felt both natural and exciting. There was a certain comfort in connecting with her beyond the surface level, and I found myself hanging on to her every word.

After finishing our meal, Miss Elara dropped me off at home. "We also need to practice for the dance performance, so let's meet daily at my place for practice," she proposed, her smile infectious. "Sure, see you later!" I replied cheerfully as I waved goodbye. The reality of the ball being just a week away sat with me, invigorating my thoughts with plans and possibilities.
