Everyone held their breath, eyes pinned to the screens in silence—half the room dreading what was about to happen, while the other half looked forward to it.
Seven seconds later, the other half erupted in a joyful cry as the ball flew past the goalpost by an inch.
"That was close."
"These Champions Club sure are incompetent. The Crones would never have missed such a golden chance."
"Now that this has happened, I'm sure we'll strengthen our defense significantly and not let them come an inch closer again."
Listening to the other half of the room, those with Ayla couldn't help but sigh.
Indeed, Champions Club had missed a well-placed goal.
The Crones might've slipped up this time letting David Huffman get past their defense, but knowing them, they wouldn't make such a mistake twice.
Still, none of them could say anything to threaten Ayla again. After all, just like she said, they'd equalized and already scored two out of the three goals she'd predicted.
