Chapter 388 - Chapter 388: The Criminals

Time passed quickly over the next few days.

School life proved wonderful for Gohan—the rhythm felt natural, and the peaceful campus environment helped him integrate smoothly. He gradually grew closer to Erasa and Videl, their conversations covering increasingly diverse topics.

Meanwhile, Gohan had also impressed the physical education teacher who'd landed alongside him that first day. The instructor viewed Gohan as a prodigy and desperately wanted to recruit him for the fighting club, offering to teach combat techniques personally. It took considerable effort for Gohan to politely decline.

After school, Gohan enjoyed reading leisurely while floating on the Flying Nimbus or taking in the scenery during his journey home. The refreshing breeze felt wonderfully pleasant.

"I have lots of homework today—better finish quickly so I can start training," Gohan mused, sitting cross-legged on the Nimbus as he headed home.

Despite his academic commitments, he never neglected his martial arts practice.

While scanning the landscape below, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure—Videl.

Still wearing her school uniform, Videl was obviously heading home from classes just like him. But several bombed-out cars blocked the street ahead. Fires raged in multiple locations amid the sounds of sirens and continuous gunfire. On both sides of the road, two groups faced off with mounted machine guns spitting streams of flame.

Gohan quickly assessed the situation—armed robbers were causing mayhem, and Videl had stumbled into the middle of it. Being kind-hearted and justice-minded, she often helped police solve difficult cases, earning fame as Orange Star City's beloved girl hero.

When encountering rampant criminals, how could Videl possibly ignore them?

TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!

Countless bullets poured forth, muzzle flashes dancing as covering fire swept across the entire street.

"Hahaha, stupid cops! You still think you can stop me? I'll kill every last one of you!" The bandit leader laughed maniacally while firing almost frantically. Hidden behind tall, armored vehicles, their overwhelming advantage left the police powerless to retaliate.

"Don't give up! Hold the line! Hold the line!" Officers shouted encouragement from behind their cars, though most were too terrified to show their faces. Unable to fight back effectively, they could only delay with hopes of wearing down their opponents.

Videl's eyes hardened—she paid no attention to these thugs whatsoever. During her training at the dojo, Master Chiaotzu's attacks had moved far faster than bullets! Taking a deep breath, she leaped forward with astonishing momentum, her lithe form darting through the dense bullet stream like a sharp arrow.

"Hey boss, someone's running through the gunfire!"

"Don't talk nonsense! Just keep shooting!"

"No... no, no, no! Someone's actually charging toward us!" Another subordinate spotted Videl's approaching figure, his face going pale with terror. "It's a woman!"

"What the hell?!" The bandit leader finally saw their target, swinging his machine gun violently to aim the black barrel at Videl before firing wildly.

Fiery streams danced through the air as pungent gunpowder smoke filled the atmosphere, but Videl tore through the haze, deftly avoiding the hail of bullets while nimbly charging straight into the gang's position!

"What?! This girl!" the bandit leader screamed, dropping his machine gun with both hands as he instinctively reached for the pistol at his waist.

"You scum deserve punishment!"

Videl despised these criminals above all else. She swung her leg in a graceful arc through the air, her kick sending the bandit leader flying. The burly robber couldn't even draw his weapon before being launched beside the armored vehicle, immediately losing consciousness.

Everyone stood stunned. This young girl in a school uniform possessed such incredible power! Their boss had trained in boxing for years—forget technique, his physical conditioning far exceeded ordinary people. Yet he'd been knocked unconscious by a single kick from a teenager. How was this possible?

"Don't panic! Fire together!" The remaining robbers forced themselves to stay calm, raising their weapons with trembling hands. They claimed not to panic, but in reality, every one of them was terrified. Relying solely on their guns, they were essentially gambling with their lives.

BANG BANG BANG BANG!

A dozen consecutive shots emptied their magazines instantly, bullet trajectories crisscrossing like a deadly web. Videl couldn't dodge such dense gunfire—so she didn't even try.

She extended her arms and waved them left and right, her hand speed exceeding the bullets themselves as she deflected their paths with lightning precision. When the gunpowder smoke cleared and the weapons fell silent, Videl still stood before them completely unharmed.

"How... how is that possible..."

"Bullets can't hurt me," Videl declared coldly, slowly opening her palm. Clang, clang, clang—the crisp, continuous sound of falling bullets struck terror into the robbers' hearts.

Several men trembled violently.

Catching bullets barehanded? This wasn't something ordinary people could accomplish!

"You... you're with Mr. Satan..." someone recognized Videl's identity.

The robbers were so frightened they lost all will to fight.

Videl showed no mercy because of this, immediately rushing forward. Her figure moved so quickly the criminals could only see a phantom blur before feeling devastating blows to their stomachs simultaneously. Wracked with pain and breaking into cold sweats, they all collapsed unconscious.

Videl had defeated the entire gang with just a few punches and kicks before gathering their weapons together.

The police snapped out of their daze while crowds hiding on the sidelines stood dumbfounded. She'd resolved the criminal situation that easily?

"Thanks to Miss Videl once again! We're truly grateful!" The officers all thanked her with completely sincere expressions. They'd cooperated with Videl countless times—with her tremendous assistance, violent crime had been effectively suppressed.

People shouted Videl's name, cheering for their heroine.

Even Gohan watching from above felt impressed by Videl's performance. No wonder she could become world champion—with this level of combat ability, aside from his own group, ordinary opponents really stood no chance.

But at that moment, the bandit leader who'd been defeated first regained consciousness. As a trained boxer, his physical conditioning far exceeded his subordinates'. After brief disorientation, he'd recovered and quietly drawn another pistol from his waist.

Rather than shouting vengeful threats, he simply pulled the trigger. The moment the bullet left the chamber, it exploded with a sharp CRACK!

Videl gasped, her beautiful eyes widening in shock. Momentary surprise prevented immediate reaction as the scorching bullet tore through air, heading straight for her.

The projectile passed mere inches from Videl's flawless cheek, acrid smell lingering at her nose. In one ten-thousandth of a second, it would pierce through her head!

Time seemed to freeze. The bandit leader's cruel smile remained fixed on his face while Videl stood paralyzed. Everyone watched as a young man appeared beside her, one hand gently touching her delicate cheek as he stood protectively before her.

Gunpowder smoke from the intercepted bullet drifted away in the youth's grasp.

Son Gohan had arrived!
