My wolf was snarling, rattling the cage of my mind as I strode through the mansion halls. Finding out Seraphina had left the feast alone sent both man and beast into a protective frenzy. How could I have been so careless? I'd left her vulnerable while I dealt with Selene, and now she was upset.
"She overheard," my father had explained grimly. "Ronan approached her after you left. He mentioned something about fated mates being impossible to ignore. Said some nonsense about how Selene would always have a claim on you."
I was going to kill my brother. Or at least break several of his bones.
The guards confirmed she'd returned to the mansion twenty minutes ago, which provided some relief. At least she hadn't wandered off in distress. Still, my pace quickened as I approached her suite, my senses heightening to catch any hint of her emotional state.
