Chapter 120 - An Alpha's Absence, A Luna's Pain

I stared at the ceiling, the remnants of my panic attack still lingering in my trembling hands. My chest ached from hyperventilating, and shame washed over me in waves. The silence in the room felt heavy, oppressive.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, not daring to look at Kaelen. "I've screwed everything up again."

I could feel his gaze on me, but I kept my eyes fixed on a small crack in the paint above us. My voice sounded hollow even to my own ears as I continued.

"I'm not a good Luna for you. Everyone keeps saying how strong I am, but I'm not. I'm..." I swallowed hard, fighting back tears. "I'm broken. I can't even handle a playful moment without falling apart. You deserve someone who isn't damaged goods."

The bed shifted as Kaelen moved, and suddenly his face appeared above mine, his green eyes blazing with an intensity that made me flinch.

"What did you just say?" His voice was dangerously quiet.
