I cradled Rhys against my chest, his tiny hand wrapped around my finger as he slept peacefully. Two weeks old and already he had completely stolen my heart. His perfect little face was relaxed in sleep, his chest rising and falling with each tiny breath. The soft wisps of dark hair—definitely Kaelen's—covered his head like a shadow.
"You're the most perfect thing I've ever seen," I whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead.
The door to our bedroom opened quietly, and Kaelen walked in, his powerful frame somehow softened when he was around our son. His eyes—those piercing green eyes that could intimidate the fiercest Alpha—went tender as he looked at us.
"How are my two favorite people?" he asked, crossing the room to sit beside me on the bed.
"One of us is perfect. The other is going out of her mind with worry," I admitted, leaning into him as he wrapped an arm around my shoulders.
Kaelen's chest rose and fell with a heavy sigh. "Still no word?"
