I stood frozen in the middle of my living room, fingers pressed to my lips where Ronan's kiss still burned. The door had closed behind him minutes ago, but I couldn't bring myself to move. My heart hammered against my ribs as if trying to escape my chest and run after him.
"What the hell just happened?" I whispered to my empty apartment.
My phone buzzed again on the coffee table, jolting me from my trance. Dr. Ian's name flashed on the screen, accompanied by another concerned message. Guilt flooded through me. Here was a kind, attentive man who'd been nothing but good to me, while I was standing here dizzy from another man's kiss.
I collapsed onto my couch, burying my face in my hands. How had my life become this complicated? A month ago, my biggest concerns were helping my sister through her pregnancy and advancing my medical career.
