Chapter 6: Finding Accompaniment
When the sun rose up again, Xiaoying woke up late because she stayed awake last night to complete writing the lyrics. Although it was slightly unclear because it has accompaniment. Moreover, she was struggling with the tune because she couldn't hear it. She's a mute and she has no one who can sing for her. It was really troublesome for her.
When Xiaoying went downstairs to the kitchen, she found no one and she knew that Jiang Sichen wasn't here anymore. But she doesn't care at all. In fact, she thought it was great. The lesser the encounter, the more it became convenient to divorce because there's no relationship between the two.
So, Xiaoying was in a good mood while preparing breakfast and happily reviewed her lyrics. Today, she decided to use the credit card given by Chairman Jiang to buy instruments. She plans on buying a piano, guitar and violin.
After tidying up everything, Xiaoying wore a mask to cover her pale complexion and a white long sleeves to also cover her thin limbs.
When she gets into the cab, the driver asks her where she wants to go. Xiaoying wants to answer but she abruptly stops when she remembers her state. Seeing the driver's confusion, she immediately took her phone and typed the mall and let him see it.
The driver got even more confused by her action but didn't inquire and just drove for her.
Xiaoying sighs in relief until it finally stops at the mall.
However, Xiaoying had also momentarily wanted to slap herself when something occurred to her. Right, how can she communicate to buy?
She sighs at the burden and decides to buy pen and paper before going to the music shop.
However, to her disappointment, none of the instruments piqued her attention. Even if it's the same— it can produce the same sound and music, Xiaoying has high standards even on picking things like this. Especially that she was once a musician.
In the end, Xiaoying left the mall in disappointment. She was leisurely walking in no direction while thinking on how to actually go back to buy the instruments. She was reluctant but in her situation, maybe she could just use it for a while?
She sighed and was about to go back but her step was halted when her gaze landed on a sign board just a few steps away from her.
Alluring Music Instruments
She tilted her head sideways before making her way closer to that place. She took a peek at the blurry window and immediately, her lips curled into a small smile and he went inside.
When her sight landed on the things inside, a satisfied smile once again appeared on her lips.
She finally found the perfect place.
"Excuse me? How may I help you?"
She was taken aback when she heard a sudden voice. She nodded at the middle-age woman politely before taking off her mask. She took her pen and gave her the note she prepared.
Hello. I am looking for a piano, guitar and violin.
The middle-age woman look at her in confusion to her note so she grab her pen and wrote;
I'm a mute.
She was startled by the revelation before giving her a comforting smile. Then, she led her to the numerous instruments inside.
"You can take your time. I have to take care of something else, can I? Just knock on the counter and I'll be back."
She nodded but wrote again on her note.
Can I play with it?
The woman nodded and smiled. "Sure. Just be careful or you'll cover up the compensation if it goes broken."
After agreeing, the woman leaves her alone. This place was actually not someone to be caught with. Since the outer design looks like it was just an ordinary house with a small garden style, you can't guess that it's a store unless you look at the sign board. Maybe that's why she's the only customer.
But it's actually good. She can use the instrument freely.
Nan Xiaoying started checking the instrument. She later on picked a white with dark brown laces designed guitar and placed it on the counter after checking the strings. She also found a violin that functions perfectly and had hit her standard. She also placed it on the counter with the bag before she went to the only piano on the side.
The woman didn't say anything about why there's only the piano and if it's for sale. Moreover, she said that everything's fine and she can do anything, so Xiaoying sat on the bench and opened the lid.
Her fingers softly touch the keys. The nostalgic feeling starts to make her miss her past life.
For her, living that life is perfect as it is. She didn't ask for anything and lived happily with the music in her arms. However, it seems like her fate will end in this unfamiliar world.
Now, all she has to do is to make sure that her life will be as peaceful as before and live with satisfaction.
Xiaoying took a deep breath before her hands found themselves playing the keys.
The first sound was like the raindrops as it sounds very unnoticed. However, the following finally gives a different feeling.
For the first time after her transmigration, Xiaoying's heart was finally at ease as she poured all her death from her past life on the music. Her head was hanging low as she felt the heaviness on her heart because of the tragic ending of her life.
She can no longer sing. The thing that she loved the most parted away from her. It took a step back again and again until it finally turned away. Then it run . . . far far away until it disappears.
Xiaoying was so immersed by her own world that she didn't notice the three people behind the corner and now looked silently at her performance.
One of them was a peculiar man. He has a blank expression on his face as if he didn't care about what's happening.
But, his eyes betrayed him.
There was an intensity in his gaze and he was dazed as if he fell from the melody that he's hearing. It was as if he was hypnotized by the sounds that he couldn't look away.
The grief, pain and loneliness in her music can be clearly heard and it was like she was pouring herself. Like this was the only way that can make her not lose her sanity.
That she needs to play this music. That she must, or her life will fall in vain.
His eyes narrowed and he was slightly stunned by the anonymous feeling on his body.
He frowns on its unfamiliarity before something snaps on his mind like he finally realizes what he is feeling.
His eyes went to the lady again and before he could realize his action, his feet found their way walking to her and finally stopped in front of her.
"Play it again for me."
