Chapter 48 - Ning Fengzhi's Headache

The first day was only for entrance exams, and there were no classes. Yang Xiong, Oscar, and Tang San were assigned to the same dormitory, while another dormitory housed the pair known as the "goulan duo," Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun.

Yang Xiong felt very uncomfortable with the two people around him. Having lived alone all his life, he was not used to the dormitory lifestyle, especially sharing a room with two other boys.

He had already lived through two lifetimes, and the last time he stayed in a dormitory was decades ago back on Earth. Everything felt awkward, particularly since his cultivation method was quite different from others.

Oscar seemed easy to get along with. After helping the unconscious Tang San onto the bed, the two had a brief conversation.

It seemed Yang Xiong was the only one who didn't mind Oscar's bizarre sausage-summoning chant, which earned Oscar's appreciation.

"Yang Xiong, we're roommates now. My name is Oscar. My spirit is Sausage. I'm a level 29 Tool Spirit Master. My nickname is Sausage Vendor."

Yang Xiong smiled. "Nice to meet you, Oscar. I'm Yang Xiong, a level 26 Battle Spirit Master. My spirit is my own body. I hope we get along well as roommates."

Oscar raised his eyebrows suggestively. "Yang Xiong, that girl who came with you is pretty. You two seem close. Are you together?"

Yang Xiong shook his head. "Oscar, you're reading too much into it. She's the little princess of our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. I wouldn't dare get too close."

Oscar showed a hint of envy. "So you're from the famous Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. No wonder you all look different from ordinary students. That clan is the richest sect on the continent."

Yang Xiong replied, "The sect treats us students well, but being born into a sect also means we're not as free as people like you."

After their brief introductions, they both began meditating.

Yang Xiong had just finished a battle with Zhao Wuji, an experience unlike anything he'd had before.

Zhao Wuji was a Soul Sage, and more importantly, he had a top-tier Beast Spirit. Among soul masters of the same rank, he was considered one of the strongest in combat. Yang Xiong felt completely overwhelmed throughout the battle, with virtually no chance to fight back.

Even with his teleportation and Rasengan, the gap in power was crushing. If Zhao Wuji had fought seriously, Yang Xiong doubted he could've blocked even a single move.

The difference in soul power between them was too great. Even teleportation couldn't fool Zhao Wuji, who could instantly sense it. At the Soul Sage level, one could sense soul power fluctuations in the air, making it nearly impossible for low-level soul masters to hide.

At this moment, Yang Xiong realized his offensive abilities were seriously lacking, or rather, too few. He figured he needed to study some combat techniques. Though Rasengan was powerful, it consumed too much energy. At level 26, he could probably only use it four times in a single battle.

By evening, Tang San finally woke up. Yang Xiong had a short chat with him but didn't pay much attention. They didn't know each other well yet, and there wasn't much to say. Oscar, on the other hand, remained quite friendly.

The next morning, Tang San asked Oscar about Xiao Wu's whereabouts and left alone. Yang Xiong also headed out around the same time, intending only to get some exercise around the academy.

Since undergoing the Ice and Fire Body Tempering, Yang Xiong felt a significant improvement in his physical fitness. He carried a hundred pounds of weight at all times.

This included four ten-pound wrist guards on his limbs and a sixty-pound chestplate. These were custom-made from deep-sea heavy silver, crafted with countless small interlocking parts and covered in a layer of cloth, making them resemble soft armor. They didn't interfere with his movements or chafe his skin.

Though Yang Xiong had spent a quiet night meditating, things weren't so calm elsewhere.

At the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, Ning Fengzhi's face was dark. Standing before him were two others with equally grim expressions, Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo.

Normally calm, Sword Douluo was now visibly angry. "Fengzhi, I wondered why such a trivial matter needed both me and Old Bone to deal with it. Turns out, you sent Rongrong away, to some Shrek Academy, no less. Isn't the education in our clan good enough?"

Ning Fengzhi looked more serious than usual. "Uncle Sword, Uncle Bone, it's precisely because you've spoiled Rongrong too much that I sent her out to train. It will benefit her in the long run."

Sword Douluo said, "I don't see any benefit. All I know is that a delicate girl like her is going to suffer out there. I'm going to bring her back."

Ning Fengzhi quickly responded, "Uncle Sword, Uncle Bone, please listen to me this time. I've already written to Shrek Academy's headmaster, Flender. He was part of the Golden Iron Triangle and should be capable of managing things. Rongrong won't be in real danger."

"Besides, she's at a crucial stage of growth. She needs to develop resilience. If she doesn't, how will she shoulder the responsibilities of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan in the future? As her father, I care deeply for her, but I must send her away to train."

Sword and Bone Douluo, though furious at first, fell silent. As top-level soul masters, they understood how difficult it was for Ning Fengzhi to lead the clan.

Then Sword Douluo suddenly spoke again. "Fengzhi, then why did you let that boy Yang Xiong go with her? Don't think I don't see your intentions. Rongrong is too young to think about those things. And although Yang Xiong is decent, his talent is poor. He'll never reach the Title Douluo level."

Ning Fengzhi shook his head. "Uncle Sword, I let Yang Xiong accompany Rongrong mainly because he's mature and knows how to behave. He can also protect her."

"Moreover, considering Yang Xiong's contributions to the clan, he might still have a promising future. Rongrong should build a relationship with him now, or she might not be able to win his loyalty later."

Sword Douluo gave a cold snort. "Fengzhi, no matter what, if anything happens to Rongrong, I'll hold you responsible."

Ning Fengzhi gave a wry smile but then turned to Bone Douluo.

"Uncle Bone, I've already spoken to Yang Xiong. When he returns to the clan, I hope you'll consider taking him as your disciple. With your guidance, he might go much further on the path of a soul master."

Bone Douluo also snorted coldly. "That boy is still too inexperienced. Whether I accept him depends on how he performs. But you'd better make sure Rongrong is safe. If anything happens to her, I'll hold you responsible too."
