Chapter 3 - Ch-3 the hall of infinity-2 (the man high above)

As he waited, sipping his coffee, thoughts drifted through his mind. None of this was normal. In all the endless years he had worked here, it was unheard of to encounter such a soul.

The fact alone confirms that this situation, even for him, was not ordinary. Choices are things that are never given to any soul that stumbles upon this place: the Hall of Infinity.

They are but judged based on their karma and destiny and sent away to places that they are destined for. And yet here he was, offering a choice and leaving it to the soul in front of him to choose its own destiny.

The more he thought about this, the more confused—and above all, curious—he became.

He was curious as to why such exceptions were made. He was curious as to why this soul's records were not fully visible. Only basic information was something he could read—an impossibility. After all, he was the Administrator of this place; everything had to go through him.

Nothing could be hidden. Such was his authority. And yet, there were things in this soul's record he couldn't see at all.

And above all of this, the thing that made him even more attentive was this soul and its number that hints at something significant.

Soul numbers are unique in themselves, not only because they tell the grade of a soul, when it was born, what life, etcetera, it had led. Everything was recorded in the soul.

And all the events happening around this soul since it came in front of him were unique and especially special, as they were exceptions made in order to accomplish what is being done here at this moment.

This is all that he can make sense of, after all; the very rules of this place are bending just to accommodate these choices.

He can tell something mysterious is happening here. And as to why and what, he won't go out of his way to find it. After all, even though he has confidence in his own power, he still fears the unknown like everyone else. If rules can be bent, then what is he, who is but under these rules?

So, though fiercely curious, he understood when to temper that curiosity.

Meanwhile, as the Administrator was drawing on his own thoughts, the person who was given a choice—his translucent figure—stood there in silence.

He was looking at the Administrator with confusion, as well as the surrounding area. This took him aback because it was just so strange and unbelievable.

Anthony Grey. That was his name. He could remember that much—thirty years of his life carried under that name, a name impossible to forget. But the ones who had given it to him? Those, he wished he could forget. They'd left him at an orphanage the day he was born, abandoning him along with the name they'd chosen.

The memory was hazy, but the anger it stirred was sharp. A deep, burning rage welled up inside him at the thought of the people who had brought him into the world only to cast him aside.

He forced the thoughts away and tried to focus on his surroundings.

What was this place, and why was he here? Wasn't he dead from that incurable disease? So why was he here? Who was this person, and why did he have that cup of coffee?

And what were these merits he had achieved? Why did he himself have no idea that he had done such good deeds?

Reincarnation sounded fine—he had liked the idea from the start, though he didn't believe such a thing was possible. He considered this place an illusion, a trick of the mind even in death. But something in his head told him it was real, so for the time being, he treated it as such—though without much excitement, since he had no assurance that any of this was real.

In any case, he was on the fence but still liked the idea of reincarnation. Yet the term "guided reincarnation" caught his attention. t puzzled him and confused him but it also made him want to know more about it.

But that second choice... if it could even be called that. After all, who would want a choice that offers eternal death with no possibility of reincarnation at all? Who would choose that? That's just absurd.

But before he could criticize more about the second choice, a panel in golden text materialized in front of his eyes.

The sight stunned him for a moment as it was so sudden and a bit weird. But then he considered this strange place—the gigantic pillars and those runes drawn upon them that made his head go dizzy just by one look. Considering this, he quickly calmed himself down and began going through the panel in front of him.

Name: Anthony Grey

Merit: Super Grade

Karma Points: 100,000,000,000,000,000,...

Divine Worship Points: 100,000,000,000,000,000,...

And that was all he read before he focused specifically on Merits, as he wanted to understand what this 'Super Grade' was about.

Merits: Super Grade > ( Bronze, Iron, Silver, Platinum, Gold, Diamond, ..., Super and Ultimate )

Reading further, he found that the classification of the Merits was based on the Karma Points and Divine Worship Points one has. There was really no additional substance to it other than this.

The specific amount of points required for Bronze Grade and so on was not mentioned, but he realized he could do the math.

Since he found it unnecessary, he didn't do that, and focused on the Karma Points instead, as he could see there was mention of why he earned them and what it meant to have Karma Points.

Quick as he was, he hurriedly opened up the information there, checked it quickly, and began reading.

And the more he read, the more stunned and speechless he became. It reached a point that he began thinking this was but flawed information. "How can this be possible?" he thought.
