Chapter 35 - 35

After coming up with this plan, the Weasley twins started to make mischief. They would hang around the Slytherin table every day and claim that the Gryffindor team had a new tactic that could easily defeat their old rivals, Slytherin.

At the same time, word was quietly spread that Ivan, known as the hero of Gryffindor, had recently set up a bet. If Gryffindor won, the odds would be ten to one, and if Slytherin won, he would earn as much as he bet.

When the young wizards of Slytherin found out, they were so angry that they jumped up and down. Doesn't this mean that Slytherin is bound to lose?

As the richest house in Hogwarts, it was naturally not short of money. Ivan soon received several gold Galleons, but more were silver Sickles and bronze Knuts.

After all, this gambling game was just for fun, and the participants were all young wizards, so the stakes were usually just a few bronze Knuts or a silver Sickle...

Even so, Ivan had received a lot of gambling money in the past few days. Coupled with the occasional bets from students from other houses, their principal was no longer enough to pay the compensation.

If I lose, it's all over...

In view of this, Fred and George also became nervous and suddenly felt that they had to do something to save the unfavorable situation.

For example... giving Harry more practice!

Harry, who had suffered an unexpected disaster, had to train again and again... more every week!

Fortunately, this miserable period did not last long, and the Quidditch match had already begun.

"Harry, come on, you must catch the Golden Snitch!" Behind the scenes of the stadium, George stared at Harry solemnly and said in a tragic voice, as if this Quidditch game was related to the survival of the world.

"Yeah, otherwise we'll have to eat dirt in the future..." Fred nodded in agreement.

Fred's words left Harry confused. In fact, more than one person had said this to him in the past few days.

At the beginning, Harry felt a heavy sense of responsibility and thought it was the encouragement from his seniors, but Harry soon discovered inexplicably that the students from Slytherin... Ravenclaw... and even Hufflepuff would say some inexplicable words to him from time to time.

This made Harry very depressed, but he couldn't find anything wrong.

After giving an inspiring speech, Captain Oliver Wood looked at Harry, who seemed a little absent-minded, and gave him a reminder.

"Don't be distracted, Harry, the game is about to begin."

"Yeah..." Harry relaxed his nervousness and nodded.

At this time, the gate of the stadium was opened, and the Gryffindor players rushed out on their brooms, with Harry following behind.

Passing through the slightly dark backstage, a wide circular arena appeared in front of Harry. The seats that were usually empty were already full, and there were bursts of cheers from the Gryffindor stands after they appeared on stage.

Ron and Neville were holding up a huge banner made of torn bed sheets. Hermione had cast a spell on it, and the words "Potter Must Win" were flashing in the air continuously.

Harry was touched, but strangely he didn't see Ivan there. After looking around, Harry successfully found Ivan in the stands near Slytherin, and he was sitting next to Professor Quirrell.

Harry was wondering why Ivan was sitting there when he saw Ivan smiling at him and pointing the wand in his right hand towards the sky.

Not long after, a firework-like beam shot into the sky and exploded several dozen meters high. The faint light spots gathered into the words "Gryffindor will win, come on Harry Potter!"

Harry suddenly felt warm in his heart. He stopped thinking about the previous question and focused his attention on the game that was about to begin.

On Ivan's side, after using magic to cheer Harry up, Ivan began today's task... keeping an eye on Quirrell.

In fact, if the outcome of this Quidditch match had not directly affected whether he would become rich overnight or go bankrupt in an instant, Ivan would have had no intention of having anything to do with Quirrell this semester.

After all, during this period of time, apart from the mysterious Dumbledore, Ivan could be said to be the only person who knew that Voldemort was living in the back of Quirrell's head.

Ivan felt guilty about having to indirectly come into contact with the final boss in his first year.

Fortunately, Ivan didn't really need to do anything. He just needed to sit next to him and pay attention to Quirrell occasionally. Ivan didn't believe that Quirrell would dare to cast a spell while he was staring at him.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Ivan's occasional gaze made Quirrell, who was already curled up in the corner, very uncomfortable, as if all his secrets had been seen through.

Ivan also realized that staring at Quirrell so directly would easily arouse suspicion, so he pretended to be curious and started chatting with Quirrell.

"Professor Quirrell, I heard that you once encountered a vampire in the jungles of Romania. Is that true?"

"Ah... yes, that's the truth. I finally got rid of it..." Quirrell responded timidly.

"Really? Then how did you defeat the resurrected zombies in Africa?"

"I also heard that you, Professor, fainted when you were reporting the news about the troll at the Halloween party..."

"Besides..."

It was the first time for Ivan to talk to the Dark Lord indirectly. He was still very nervous and didn't even know what to talk about. Would it be too deliberate to talk about studying in such a cheerful atmosphere?

Ivan had no choice but to pick some lighter topics first... such as some interesting things that happened recently.

"That's enough!" Quirrell couldn't help but interrupt. With Quirrell's good temper, he wouldn't get angry easily, but Ivan didn't know how to chat at all. Every time he asked about the dark history that he wanted to forget...

Especially the Halloween thing. Whenever Quirrell thought of it, he got angry. He pretended to faint at the Halloween party to clear himself of the suspicion of releasing the troll. It was a reflection of his high-end acting skills and was highly praised by the Dark Lord...

But who would have thought that such a huge troll could be easily defeated by Ivan, a first-year student? In addition, Professor McGonagall took advantage of the situation and used him as a backdrop to highlight the troll's strength. The news that he had fainted at the Halloween party spread throughout the school.

As a result, Quirrell became the laughingstock of the whole school overnight. Every time he taught a class, he could hear people talking about how he got the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor through a deal with Dumbledore.

The most important thing is that he doesn't dare to explain. No matter how hard or tired he is, he can only keep it in his heart...
