Synopsis
As I turned to leave, the unthinkable happened. Her anguished voice pierced the air like a dagger, echoing in pain as tears streamed down her face like a relentless waterfall. Her words shattered my heart, forcing me to confront the monster I'd become, a reflection of the darkest corners of my soul. "How could you, Daven?" she cried, her voice trembling with emotion, each word a fragile whisper that cracked with despair. "I trusted you, I gave you everything my heart, my soul, my everything. I sacrificed my family, my wealth, my reputation... all for you, all because I believed in you. And now, I've lost everything because of you. You've taken my heart, my dignity, my sense of self-worth... You've destroyed me, leaving me a hollow shell of what I once was." As her words hung in the air, a deafening gunshot rang out, shattering the silence like a sledgehammer. The sound was like a physical blow, leaving my ears ringing and my senses reeling. My vision blurred, and my eyes rolled back in my head, as if the very fabric of reality was unraveling before me. The world around me went dark and silent, as if the gunshot had ripped away my ability to hear and see, plunging me into an abyss of nothingness. In the chaos that followed, a fleeting glimpse of light appeared before me. For a moment, I saw my mother again, her face radiant with love and warmth, her presence a gentle breeze on a summer's day. The light enveloped me, filling me with a sense of peace and longing. But it was short-lived, and the darkness closed in once more, leaving me lost and adrift in a sea of uncertainty.

Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE - THE MEMORIES

It was raining heavily, as the dark clouds out the window whispered loneliness to me, it was 8:30pm, as the memories of the tall beautiful figure came knocking at the walls of my mind, I picked up my stick of cigarettes to warm myself, The cigarette smoke wafted up to my nostrils, carrying the acrid scent of burning tobacco. As I inhaled, the smoke tickled the back of my throat, leaving a faintly bitter taste on my tongue. The warmth of the smoke spread through my chest, a gentle burn that seemed to soothe my nerves. The ember glowed brightly, casting a fiery light on my fingertips as I held the cigarette.

The memory still lingers, like a ghostly whisper in my mind. I recall walking into that old forsaken bar, and that's when I saw her. She was a vision of beauty, a radiant smile that lit up the dimly lit room. Who was she? I wondered, my curiosity piqued. As I watched her move with effortless elegance, I found myself captivated by her presence. I wondered if I would see her again, and what drew her to work in such a place. As I stood there, frozen in admiration, I couldn't help but think, "Gosh, she clearly takes my mind off a whole lot of things..." It was as if time had stood still, and all that mattered was the fleeting moment I shared with this mysterious beauty.

"Come here Lolo" I called out as I saw her hiding behind the door, her calm moves swiftly shifted my thoughts as the memories came rushing in, the memories of my mum, how she died in front of me, right by the hands of her so-called ex-husband, the only thing that made me feel she was always with me, was Lolo, her pet cat, who she left in my care….

I still remember that fateful day, etched in my memory like a scar that refuses to heal. The cold-blooded killer, with no regard for human life, had taken something precious from me - my mother. The pain was overwhelming, and a single tear rolled down my mournful face as I whispered a promise to myself: "I won't rest until he's brought to justice." No amount of wealth or power would shield him from accountability, not even if he's one of the richest men in the country. My mother's memory deserved better, and I was determined to see justice served.

As I sat on my bed, frozen in my emotions, I caught Lolo's gaze. Her cute cat eyes, usually bright and playful, had softened to a warm, sad expression that mirrored my own. It was as if she understood exactly what I was going through. I bet Lolo understood my feelings at that moment, because her eyes seemed to echo the same sorrow that welled up in mine. In that instant, I felt a deep connection with her, a sense of being seen and understood without needing words. I smiled and pulled her in for a hug as I laid softly on my bed, staring at the ceiling….

...….

I sat at my usual spot, a familiar rhythm to my day as a gatekeeper at the popular La Vania Court of Justice. Suddenly, a car horn pierced the air, and I wondered if it had been honking for a while. "Gosh, I wonder who it is," I thought, as I quickly got up to open the gate. But my mind wasn't on the task at hand. "I just can't get this lady off my head," I admitted to myself, my thoughts drifting back to the mysterious woman I'd seen earlier.

As I opened the gate, I couldn't help but think about my job. Day in and day out, I saw people coming and going, often with tears in their eyes. I'd watch as couples, parents, and individuals walked out of the courtroom, defeated and heartbroken. It made me question whether justice was truly being served. "It's just not gonna go well with them," I'd often hear people say, "they're all the same, hiding the truth and refusing to give the less privileged justice."

I sighed, feeling a sense of frustration and hopelessness. But then I thought about the new judge who was supposed to take over soon. Maybe, just maybe, things would change. Maybe justice would finally be served, and the less privileged would get a fair shot. I held onto that hope as I returned to my post, watching as people continued to stream into the court, each with their own story and struggles. I just hope the new judge tables things differently…

As I stood at the gate, still lost in thought, I didn't notice the significance of the car that had just driven in. But as I gazed at the occupant, I couldn't help but be impressed. The woman who stepped out of the car exuded elegance, her stylish glasses adding a touch of sophistication to her already poised demeanor. She glanced at me with a charming smile, and for a moment, I felt like she knew me. My heart skipped a beat as I involuntarily waved at her, unsure if she even noticed.

The driver, who doubled as her bodyguard, held the car door open for her, and she stepped out with confidence. As she walked towards the courtroom, her presence commanded attention. Her bold stride and majestic aura left a lasting impression on me. I watched, mesmerized, as she disappeared into the courtroom, wondering who this captivating woman was.

It wasn't until later that I discovered the truth - this elegant woman was the new judge. I couldn't help but feel a sense of intrigue, wondering how her presence would impact the court and its proceedings. Little did I know, my life was about to take an interesting turn.

...…..

Night had fallen, casting a dim glow over the old forsaken bar. I pushed open the creaky door, my eyes scanning the room with a mix of hope and nostalgia. I had been looking forward to this moment all day, hoping to catch a glimpse of the beautiful damsel who had captivated my attention. The stress of the day still lingered, weighing heavy on my shoulders, but the familiar atmosphere of the bar seemed to promise a welcome respite.

I made my way to my usual spot, a seat close to the bar table, and ordered a drink from the bartender. As I waited for my drink to arrive, I felt a gentle tap on my back. "What can I get you?" a charming voice asked, sending a shiver down my spine. I turned to look, and my heart skipped a beat. There she stood, the damsel I had been hoping to see, dressed in a sexy outfit that accentuated her curves. My mouth went dry as I gazed at her, my heart racing with excitement.

As I gazed into her captivating smile, I couldn't help but notice the way her body built up seemed to radiate confidence. "Hello, beautiful," I said, my words spilling out effortlessly. I introduced myself, "I'm Daven, do you work here?" The romantic song playing in the background seemed to fuel my emotions, and I felt drawn to her.

Lexy looked up, her cheeks flushing slightly as she caught my admiring gaze. "Hi, I'm Lexy, and yeah, I work here," she replied, her voice soft. "What can I offer you?"

I smiled, trying to charm her. "Two shots of margarita for you and me," I suggested, hoping she'd join me. But Lexy politely declined, "I don't think so, sir. It's just for you. I don't drink alcoholic drinks."

I raised an eyebrow, playfully teasing her. "Refusing a harmless offer from a customer?" I asked, trying to coax her into agreeing. However, Lexy remained firm, her smile never wavering. With a sly glance, she turned to walk away, leaving me feeling intrigued.

As I watched her go, I felt a spark of attraction. I wanted to get to know her better, but I knew I had to take things slow. Steady was the key, I reminded myself.
