Chapter 225: Meeting Ying Huanhuan Again, First Sect Mission!
As the entire Desolate Hall buzzed with excitement, two days passed in the blink of an eye.
During this time, Lin Fan remained seated in meditation with his eyes shut tight. Though there was no longer any blood from the corners of his eyes, a faint gray line had formed at the center of his brow.
Buzz...
Suddenly, a hum resonated from the stone stele before him.
Everyone in the Martial Arts Hall saw a dazzling gray beam shoot out from the black eye carved into the stele, connecting precisely to the gray line between Lin Fan's brows.
"Is he about to form the eye?"
Gu Mo instantly stood upright, his pupil-less eyes locked tightly onto Lin Fan.
Yet, despite the ripple at his brow, the gray line never opened.
"Again?" Gu Mo murmured, frowning.
This scene mirrored what happened nearly a month ago when Lin Dong trained with the Desolate Demon Eye—but that time, he had truly succeeded.
Now, the beam of light linking Lin Fan and the stele gradually faded, and with a soft pop, it fully vanished.
At that moment, Lin Fan slowly opened his eyes, ending his two-day meditation.
"Did you succeed?" Gu Mo asked with uncertainty.
Part of him felt confident, thanks to Lin Dong's precedent—but Lin Fan's short cultivation time left room for doubt.
"Thank you for guarding me, Elder. I was fortunate to succeed," Lin Fan said with a calm smile, bowing politely.
Not only had he mastered the Desolate Demon Eye, he had also enhanced it using the Ancestral Stone Purification Power and his heaven-defying comprehension. The improved technique no longer harmed the eyes and retained its original power.
"Good, good." Gu Mo nodded twice, clearly pleased.
"Congratulations, Brother Lin Fan!"
"Congratulations, Brother Lin Fan!"
Lin Dong, Mo Ling, and the others all stepped forward to congratulate him, admiration glowing in their eyes.
Lin Dong was already considered a monster, but Lin Fan was clearly on another level entirely.
Word of Lin Fan successfully condensing the Desolate Seed and mastering the Desolate Demon Eye in just two days once again swept through the Desolate Hall.
Though Lin Fan kept a low profile, his popularity had already surpassed everyone in the hall—earning him the nickname "Desolate Hall's Number One Personal Disciple" among many.
Even the original four core disciples—Pang Tong, Jiang Hao, Song Zhou, and Fang Yun—had nothing to say. After all, Lin Fan was now at the Eighth-Stage Nirvana Realm, and also an Eighth Seal Symbol Master. None of them could compare.
After mastering both the Desolate Art and the Desolate Demon Eye, Lin Fan resumed his daily training, never showing any signs of arrogance despite being widely recognized as the strongest among the younger generation.
His humility and dedication earned the deep admiration of Desolate Hall's elders like Chen Zhen, Wudao, and Gu Mo.
That day, just after finishing a training session, Gu Mo informed Lin Fan that Wudao was waiting outside.
After bidding Gu Mo farewell, Lin Fan stepped out and soon saw Wudao standing outside the Martial Arts Hall.
"Lin Fan, over here!" Wudao called with a grin.
Lin Fan walked over curiously. "Is something up, Uncle Wudao?"
Wudao smiled. "You'll be heading out on a sect mission. It's one of the assignments for all new disciples—treat it as field experience. Since you're new, you don't have any major responsibilities yet. Just focus on learning."
"Leaving the sect, huh..." Lin Fan's eyes flickered thoughtfully.
"Come on, I'll take you to meet your teammates," Wudao said as he turned and leapt into the sky.
Lin Fan smiled and followed without hesitation.
They flew out from the Desolate Hall mountain range and landed atop a massive platform to the north.
As soon as they touched down, Lin Fan's eyes swept over the scene—and spotted a familiar figure.
A young woman in white and teal stood lazily on the platform, eyes sparkling with mischief and a trace of well-hidden surprise.
It was none other than Ying Huanhuan, the girl who once tried (unsuccessfully) to recruit Lin Fan into Heaven Hall—and labeled him arrogant and self-important.
Sunlight poured down from the sky, casting a halo over her tall, slender figure.
Her jet-black hair was tied into a high ponytail that swayed down to her waist, giving her a lively and spirited aura.
Lin Fan's gaze lingered on her for a brief moment before moving on to two young men nearby.
Both were upright and fairly handsome—one dressed in white, the other in black—with an air of quiet confidence.
Their expressions showed curiosity and surprise as they glanced at Lin Fan.
"Ah, so Desolate Hall's representative is here."
An elder with snow-white hair stood ahead of the three, greeting Lin Fan and Wudao with a friendly smile.
Wudao smiled back and exchanged greetings, then turned to Lin Fan. "This is Elder Bai Hua."
"So you're the famous Lin Fan I've been hearing about? Quite the promising talent," Elder Bai Hua said with a kind smile.
"Elder flatters me," Lin Fan replied with a bow.
Bai Hua stroked his beard and chuckled. "Humble too. Desolate Hall got lucky this time."
"Of course," Wudao said proudly, not hiding his satisfaction.
After a brief exchange, Bai Hua turned his gaze to the four youths. "The four of you will be heading out together for this mission. Ying Huanhuan will be in charge. She'll explain the mission once you're en route."
"Yes, Elder," Lin Fan nodded and glanced at Ying Huanhuan.
Ying Huanhuan gave him a sly smile, her eyes twinkling like a fox. "You're not going to complain about it, are you?"
"No complaints," Lin Fan shrugged casually.
Ying Huanhuan raised her crescent-moon eyebrows and pouted slightly. "I've led over ten missions like this already. I've got more experience than you rookies. Just because you're older doesn't mean you're wiser."
That last line made Wudao and Bai Hua's eyelids twitch. They exchanged helpless glances.
"This girl's tongue is as sharp as ever…"
Lin Fan just chuckled without saying a word.
For some reason, Ying Huanhuan suddenly felt itchy—like she wanted to bite him.
"Let's go!" she said with a playful glare, then extended a slender finger and tapped the air.
A crisp tone echoed outward and quickly rippled through the sky.
Skreeee!
Moments later, a cry rang out from a nearby forested mountain, and a giant cyan eagle soared toward the platform with a flap of its wings.
"Time to move. Quick in, quick out," Ying Huanhuan said as she gracefully leapt onto the eagle's back.
The two male disciples from the Earth and Flood Halls followed quickly.
Lin Fan bowed slightly to Wudao and Bai Hua, then landed lightly on the eagle's back as well.
Whoosh!
As soon as they were all aboard, Ying Huanhuan gave the eagle a gentle pat.
With a sharp cry, it flapped its wings and shot into the sky like a bolt of lightning!
