Giselle's horse was a beautiful ginger mare that the stableboy called Vixen. She immediately fell in love with the animal, her fingers brushing its mane every second she found herself idle.
Lucien was right, the morning's weather was right for riding. It was neither too sunny that it was sweltering nor too cloudy that it was too foggy. Their horses whinnied as they galloped slowly through the small wooded area that lay south of the palace. It was an area carefully selected, preserved and looked after by the royal gardeners and was used for hunting trips, external picnics and a variety of other activities. Today, the three monarchs of their respective kingdoms rode through the grounds on their horses, dashing through trees and bushes. Lucien led the party, his horse a bit faster than the others.
