Two days had passed, though Giselle had lost count of time after the first night. The dungeon was quiet except for the steady drip of water somewhere behind the walls.
Her body ached from the cold stone and restless nights. No one had visited her recently, even Lysara has been scarce although Giselle had advised her against coming for her own safety. The guards changed shifts, left her food and said nothing to her. Each moment stretched like an accusation. She felt like she was going insane with only her thoughts keeping her company.
But the silence wasn't all that gnawed at her. It was the uncertainty.
Fabio was still alive, that much she knew. Lysara, during her last visit here, had whispered that he still breathed, though weakly, his heart refusing to give in.
