Lexton's gaze slid back to me.
His lips twisted into a crooked grin, exposing rows of sharp, uneven teeth.
"And you," he said slowly.
The grip on his massive hammer tightened as he rolled his shoulders, the metal plates of his armor clanking together.
"Stay right where you are."
His eyes gleamed with cruel amusement.
"Once she's dead… I'll make sure you regret touching my armor."
We'll see about that.
I steadied my breathing.
"Now," Lexton growled, dragging the hammer across the ground with a screech of metal and stone, "hand over the Golden Jade Seal."
I snorted.
"Kukuk. That's a funny joke."
He frowned.
"Why would I hand it over?"
Would a thief give back the treasure he worked so hard to steal?
That was about as likely as a dog suddenly deciding to graze peacefully on grass.
"And you'll never be able to touch me," I added lightly. "Not once."
Lexton's face darkened.
"Arrogant little worm!"
