The Avengers team of the Kang Dynasty underwent a series of optimizations and adjustments.
Because the gods had been exiled, the Captain had never been frozen in ice, and the Hulk had never been born, the Avengers' roster had seen a massive overhaul. Tony Stark served as the Captain, and the team included Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, Wasp, Ms. Marvel, and War Machine.
Each of them carried a teleportation beacon from the 31st century, allowing them to react and mobilize instantly whenever Kang required. It was for this very reason that Kang had summoned them immediately to hold the line for him. After this group of Avengers fought a large contingent of super-powered cyborgs from the future with looks of confusion, Hank Pym looked at the fallen cyborgs on the ground with a hint of surprise, finding it hard to believe. "These enemies look like... Ultron?"
"It is Ultron, Dr. Pym. However, Ultron no longer exists in this world," Kang explained.
Following the battle, Kang had swiftly used the Cosmic Cube to erase the present-day Ultron before explaining the situation. "I traveled to the future and saw exactly what caused the collapse of the entire multiverse—Ultron conquered the world and converted everyone into semi-mechanical lifeforms."
At this point, Kang fell silent and did not elaborate further. However, in his estimation, Ultron had likely attempted to use the data and information he had acquired to open another rift leading to the Beyond-Realm to create a second Cosmic Cube. He had failed, and the rift had expanded uncontrollably, resulting in a multiversal incursion crisis.
But this could not be said aloud. The method of manufacturing a Cosmic Cube was a secret of the highest order; he could not provide it to anyone else.
"He is attempting to come to this era to seize the Cosmic Cube."
"But haven't you already erased Ultron?" Tony asked, puzzled. "If that's the case, then why can the enemy still come here?"
"Time is a very complex thing, Stark. When you observe the future, that future becomes fixed. Attempting to excise it from this timeline is a very troublesome matter."
TRN-type universes, also known as Temporary Realities, were a special type of universe that might not necessarily branch off into the multiverse but possessed the potential to do so. Without a doubt, the so-called Age of Ultron was one such temporary reality. Kang had made up his mind; he had to use the Cosmic Cube to navigate smoothly through to the year 2015 and prevent the birth of Ultron or any similar entity. As long as the multiversal rift never came into existence in 2015, the Kang Dynasty could endure forever.
"I plan to conquer 2015, to conquer that so-called Age of Ultron." Kang finally looked toward the Avengers. "I need you to stabilize the chronal portal and notify the militaries of the major nations to prepare for deployment."
He found that this world was truly in shambles. When he had performed the one-click modification earlier, bugs had appeared everywhere. Now, he needed to rewrite the underlying code bit by bit and straighten these things out.
Watching Kang disappear, Tony shrugged. After dismissing the non-scientific personnel, he and Pym began to study how to stabilize the transporter. Pym still looked at the corpses on the ground in disbelief. "How is this possible? Ultron shouldn't have been able to break through his base code..."
"Are you sure about that?"
"Ultron wasn't programmed through zeros and ones; he was a framework constructed through brain-wave projection. The entire foundation of that framework was 'non-violence' and 'assisting the Avengers.' If those two points were negated, Ultron simply could not exist."
Pym frowned as he connected to the computer. From his perspective, he could not comprehend why Ultron would rebel unless the thing simply wasn't Ultron at all.
Tony, on the other hand, didn't dwell on it too much. He thought of several things while performing maintenance. He checked the surroundings and then looked at Pym. "Can you be certain?"
"I... I can."
"If we look at it from the perspective of modern science, it's impossible for Ultron to rebel. That leaves only one explanation: Kang used the Cosmic Cube to modify Ultron, which is why he deleted Ultron—because his modifications caused Ultron to become his own enemy, just like every time-travel joke out there."
Pym remained silent, saying nothing. Tony continued, "Do you know what this means, Hank? This is an opportunity. It proves that as long as Ultron can continue to evolve, he can threaten Kang. This is our chance."
"Have you gone mad? He has the Cosmic Cube. No one can defeat him."
"Oh, please. Haven't you checked your own memories? The moment Kang arrived on Earth, he was invincible, and no one could defeat him, so everyone just surrendered? If that were true, I should have surrendered during the Battle of New York. There's no doubt about it—our world was never like this. Kang modified reality to allow himself to conquer this world."
Tony walked over to Pym and whispered a counter-question. "Don't you want to know? What was our original world like? I can guarantee it was a lot better than this broken world."
Hank remained silent for a long while as the two continued to work. Tony felt a sense of agitation. Although he didn't know why Kang had hurriedly shaped a half-finished Kang Dynasty, he knew that as time passed, Kang would eventually shape a world that satisfied him. When that happened, they would truly have no chance at all.
Therefore, no matter what, resistance had to be organized as soon as possible.
"I will rebuild Ultron, but I won't modify any of Ultron's underlying logic. I also can't guarantee whether the new Ultron can grow to the level of the previous one." Pym finally relented. As a pacifist, he was unwilling to see more than half the world ruled by warlords and tyrants. Yet even so, he still believed that the Avengers alone could not defeat a Kang who possessed the Cosmic Cube and the Time Stone.
But Tony had never said they would rely solely on the Avengers to confront Kang.
He had already established contact with several ambitious rulers. Unsurprisingly, these individuals were terrified that Kang would use the Cosmic Cube to erase them, and they were even more interested in taking the Cosmic Cube for themselves to replace him. Their time was more pressed than that of the Avengers; with just a little pressure applied to them, they would surely choose to go all out in a life-or-death struggle against Kang.
What the Avengers and Ultron truly needed to do was to find a way to seize the Cosmic Cube at that moment and restore the entire world to its original state.
This was, of course, incredibly dangerous. One could even say that as long as Kang held the Cosmic Cube, the probability of this plan succeeding approached zero.
But that would by no means prevent them from making one final stand.
