Doctor Octopus had picked the Sinister Six for his own specific reasons and standards, without a doubt.
Electro—when fully charged, he possessed the highest stats of the entire team. Furthermore, he could absorb electricity on a massive scale. Spider-Man's wall-crawling and bio-electric abilities were rooted in bio-electricity; as long as Electro was present, it effectively meant Spider-Man lost every ability related to bio-electricity.
Scorpion—though he wasn't inherently strong, he possessed a unique advantage. Relying on the natural instinct of scorpions to prey on spiders, his presence could, to a certain extent, suppress Spider-Man's Spider-Sense.
However, Spider-Man seemed to have found a way to strengthen his Spider-Sense, resulting in Scorpion's presence merely weakening the sense back to its original, base version.
Mysterio—once Scorpion and Electro had sealed away two of Spider-Man's abilities, Mysterio could further manipulate Spider-Man's senses. He could make it impossible for Spider-Man to make accurate visual judgments, thereby further diminishing his combat effectiveness. And this wasn't even the strongest form Otto had prepared for Mysterio.
The next was Sandman, following the same logic. Sandman's greatest advantage was his ability to turn into sand, allowing him to physically lock Spider-Man down and prevent him from escaping. As long as Sandman trapped him, Spider-Man was doomed.
Finally, Rhino—he served as the finisher. His role was to use his unstoppable momentum to utterly kill Spider-Man. If once wasn't enough, he would simply do it again.
Then there was Doctor Octopus himself, acting as the leader. Thus, a Sinister Six specifically designed to counter Spider-Man was established: Doctor Octopus, Electro, Scorpion, Rhino, Mysterio, and Sandman. Together, they formed a Sinister Six specifically to take down the Wall-Crawler.
Individually, perhaps none of them could defeat Spider-Man, but combined, they could maximize the suppression of his powers to thoroughly defeat him.
One could even say that until just a moment ago, the plan was flawless. Every link was accounted for. Yet, even with the advantage of a surprise attack, they had failed to deal a heavy blow to Spider-Man.
It was, frankly, a bit embarrassing.
However, in Peter's eyes, these six were viewed differently. First were Electro and Scorpion; Peter evaluated them as pure villains. Otto was someone forced into being a villain, but he was a villain nonetheless. Sandman was a mercenary with no morals who returned kindness with enmity—a villain. Mysterio had psychological issues, mainly caused by his helmet. Finally, there was Rhino; Peter didn't know why he was helping Otto.
If he pulled Mysterio's helmet off, the man might return to normal. Rhino might be reasoned with. As for the other four, there was no need to hold back!
"So, is it Halloween today? I'm seeing two guys who should have died long ago appearing right in front of me perfectly fine?" Peter spoke while dodging Rhino's attacks. "So, Otto, you chose to switch to a new body? The cloning route?"
"It seems your contact with Osborn has indeed taught you a lot, Spider-Man. However, that is still not enough to save you." Doctor Octopus smiled as he directed the Sinister Six into their formations. "You are dead, Spider-Man. We will bury you here!"
"Thanks for the offer, but I don't plan on dying at the hands of a bunch of losers I've already beaten!"
Peter continued to weave through their attacks. Although they had indeed used various means to limit his power, Otto was looking further ahead. He realized that even so, it was still not enough to allow them to defeat a Spider-Man like this.
With just one incantation, Spider-Man's body was covered in a runic shield that sand could not penetrate. With another incantation, he could see right through Mysterio's illusions.
This was too absurd.
Not only that, but Sandman immediately let out a howl of pain. While dodging Scorpion's strikes, Peter quipped, "You know, Flint, you're a mercenary working for Hydra. Did you really think they wouldn't put you in shackles until you proved you could behave?"
"And you, Gargan, your stats are outdated!"
Even without Venom, with his bio-electricity disabled and his Spider-Sense weakened, Peter still bypassed Mysterio's illusions and Sandman's restraints. He landed a punch squarely on Scorpion's face, then spun around to grab Mysterio's helmet. "Take it off, Quentin!"
"No! I won't let you lie to me again!"
Peter was baffled by Mysterio's roar. "Lie to you about what?"
Doctor Octopus, who had been hanging back and observing the battle, narrowed his eyes.
My previous reasoning was correct. Spider-Man is growing too fast. The Sinister Six's equipment isn't enough to defeat him; they still need upgrades. Or I need to find another way to weaken him... the current Sinister Six isn't enough.
Of course, in this battle, Spider-Man had one opponent he couldn't easily deal with.
"Haha! Spider-Man, how are you going to teach me a lesson?"
Electro instantly enveloped Peter in a powerful current. Spider-Man collapsed to his knees, but before anything else could happen, a distorted sound suddenly rang out. Then, countless structures surged from various corners, directly piercing through the Raft prison itself. The entire Raft began to stall, losing its ability to move.
"What's happening, Dillon? Why has the ship stopped? Move it! Dillon! Move!"
Doctor Octopus let out a helpless and angry roar. Seeing this, Dillon quickly checked the equipment and spoke with a tone of confusion and frustration. "That's not right. Every system is showing normal. I can't see where the problem is!"
"You mean there's no problem? Then what the hell is this?!"
Peter knew exactly what was happening. In fact, within the Raft, there was a prison within the prison.
The "Mansion Prison."
This prison had been shrunk using Pym Particles and placed in the Raft's vault. The Mansion was specifically used to house the most dangerous prisoners, such as Baron Strucker.
Of course, Strucker was mainly there because of his importance. After removing his "Satan's Claw" prosthetic, Strucker—who had had his legs broken by Silver Sable for trying to escape—could hardly be called a threat.
The Mansion's second purpose was to prevent a jailbreak. If someone truly managed to completely breach the Raft and the Avengers were unable or too late to stop it, the Mansion would immediately restore to its original size, destroying the Raft from the inside out. When that happened, no one would be able to run.
The Raft would lose all possibility of movement, becoming a complete island stranded in the Atlantic.
