Chapter 446 - Chapter 446: Intelligence on the Brotherhood of Mutants

Whether it was Wanda or Pietro present, both were extremely surprised upon hearing that name. They knew who their father was referring to—his most respected rival, Charles Xavier.

But hadn't Professor Xavier died six years ago in the struggle against Stryker? Why was the old man calling out his name?

Magneto remained silent, engaging in a mental exchange with the Professor. Joining this discussion were not only the Professor but also the resistance groups from the year 2029.

In Earth-811, within an abandoned Army bunker in the Mojave Desert, the Professor was using telepathy to patch the consciousness of the 2013 Magneto into this small network. Peter and Illyana had gone out and found new survivors willing to join the resistance; the two of them had raided a squad of standard Sentinels and successfully rescued several people, including a mutant named Sunspot.

His ability involved absorbing solar energy to gain super strength, super speed, flight, and the capacity to release energy blasts (it must be said, this power set is quite common). Moreover, he had previously been a member of Cyclops' team and had finally joined the organization.

The group only wanted to ask Magneto one thing.

"Can you stop Raven from assassinating Senator Kelly, Erik?" After showing Magneto this pathetic, extreme future, the Professor asked urgently, "If we can persuade Senator Kelly, perhaps he won't co-sponsor the Mutant Registration Act. We can prevent all of this."

"Persuade, persuade... You still refuse to admit that they were the ones who viewed mutants as outcasts first," Magneto sighed helplessly. "It wasn't mutants who saw humans as the enemy, but the other way around. Humans fear and dread mutants."

"They worship or even admire superhumans because they know their abilities weren't innate or uncontrollable. But they fear the children born to mutants because they have no way of knowing if the next mutant born will be a terrible disaster capable of destroying the world or a freak to be mocked at will. They don't fear superhumans, Charles; they fear the uncertainty of mutants—the uncontrollable nature of mutant abilities."

Whether Magneto's argument held merit aside, the Professor was currently concerned with another matter: "Then you should at least admit that once Nimrod is born, the entirety of Genosha will be destroyed, right? We must prevent Nimrod's birth."

"First of all, I don't see any inevitable link between the death of an American Senator and the birth of Nimrod. If you ask me, perhaps we should take the initiative to destroy A.I.M. and stop Nimrod's birth. Second, while I haven't opposed Mystique's actions, I must say that the Brotherhood of Mutants is not currently under my control."

Magneto spoke very seriously to the Professor: "Genosha is a nation that is more inclusive and seeks fairness; we cannot allow extremist ideologies to spread here. Though it may seem strange coming from me to some, the fact remains—to ensure the peace and stability of Genosha, the Brotherhood of Mutants and mutant extremists will not exist within Genosha."

With the exception of Magneto himself.

"So, conversely, you provided those guys with a source of soldiers, right?"

Wolverine couldn't help but ask. Facing this question, Magneto essentially offered a denial; after all, he hadn't ordered those extremists to join the Brotherhood of Mutants. However, if those individuals were recruited by Mystique, Magneto had no reason to stop them.

Furthermore, Magneto actually wanted the humans to take the initiative and attack Genosha. Why would he stop these mutant terrorists who were carrying out attacks?

So, he simply denied it. Of course, he also understood the intentions of the Professor and the others, so he told Xavier: "I can give the X-Men intelligence regarding the Brotherhood of Mutants, but the prerequisite is that they must have the ability to protect that Senator and successfully persuade him."

"I have a better way. I will have Kitty rescue Senator Kelly, thereby establishing a mental connection with him to show him what happens in the future."

"Perhaps he will only think it's mutant witchcraft."

"Or perhaps I will 'persuade' him that it is the truth."

Magneto wasn't surprised. The Professor wasn't a stubborn old fool; if faced with special circumstances, he would certainly take special actions—he usually just restrained himself.

"But as I said, the life or death of one Senator cannot determine the outcome. I will prepare to act ahead of time and nip Nimrod's birth in the bud."

Preventing the modern Nimrod was easy enough. There was actually a long period between A.I.M.'s acquisition of Trask Industries and the development of Nimrod. It wasn't as if Nimrod would rule the world the moment Kelly and President Ellis died in 2013.

It was just that the starting point of everything occurred in 2013.

However, the people of Earth-616 had to face a brand new problem: the Earth-811 Nimrod that had traveled back—or at least one Nimrod Sentinel under its control. That thing was a much more troublesome and primary opponent.

While he was deep in thought, Magneto suddenly sensed something and returned to his own consciousness. He watched Peter Parker let out an exclamation after answering a communication, his face turning pale with shock. Magneto immediately asked the superhero who had helped Genosha in a gentle tone, "Spider-Man, has something happened?"

"An accident just occurred at the Raft prison. All data streams have stopped transmitting. The only ones inside are Ant-Man, who was providing psychological counseling to the inmates, and the Wasp, who was accompanying him."

Peter realized that things might be going south. Something might have happened to the Raft, but an incident at the Raft was highly improbable.

What exactly had broken through the defenses of the Raft and Ultron?

A.I.M. Headquarters.

Having learned that Tony Stark was analyzing the recent bombings in his West Coast mansion, Killian walked leisurely to the console and spoke into the microphone: "Alright, guys, get ready. Everything is about to begin. Has Mr. Max Dillon been notified?"

"Electro has already begun his move, Boss."

"Very good. Remember to have him say hello to Dr. Otto Octavius for me."

Killian chuckled. Almost simultaneously, an attack helicopter rose into the air, preparing to bomb Tony Stark's mansion, ideally killing him instantly.

Then, through the helicopter's camera, he saw that instead of running away, Tony Stark walked out in his bathrobe to soak up some sun, while a force field barrier blocked the missiles and autocannon fire.

"Thank the future, and thank the multiverse."

Tony sipped his green juice, sat down on a beach chair, and looked at the bewildered attack helicopter. "Jarvis, get ready to receive our guests."

[Sir, the Raft prison has ceased all data transmissions.]

"Then prepare the new suit. It's time to let people see the All-New, All-Different Iron Man."
