Chapter 366 - Chapter 366: The Ultimate Ultimatum!

To turn our attention elsewhere, just as Norman entered his own consciousness, the AI Green Goblin—who had originally "only planned to live a peaceful life"—decided to act prematurely. This acceleration was a direct result of Emma Frost using her telepathy to probe Hamilton's mind and discover the complete plan of both the Green Goblin and the AI Green Goblin.

Since he couldn't have Hamilton become the Green Goblin, the AI decided the Green Goblin should destroy everything instead.

Of course, this too was a lie.

However, the Avengers and the X-Men temporarily had no time to ponder that particular problem. Because with the emergence of the AI Green Goblin, all electronic equipment throughout the entire Avengers Tower was rapidly hijacked. J.A.R.V.I.S. was disabled by the AI Green Goblin before it had a chance to isolate itself onto a separate network.

Next, from the walls, floors, and ceilings of the Avengers Tower's top-floor living area, a large number of missile launchers, laser-guided devices, and automatic machine gun turrets ejected, immediately sweeping fire across the three Avengers and two X-Men present.

"You installed missile launchers and machine guns inside the Avengers Tower?!"

Captain America, with lightning speed, pulled Tony (who was not in his armor) behind a sofa, using his shield as cover. Tony explained helplessly, "I have to prepare for the possibility of invaders, right! What if they just teleport directly inside the Tower?"

"Tony, can't you forcefully restart J.A.R.V.I.S. to defend against this opponent?"

Hank (Pym, presumably, although the character context makes this Hank McCoy) inquired while having shrunk to avoid the fight. Tony quickly shook his head: "I can't. The moment I inject any program, they'll detect it instantly. Since the opponent has already successfully invaded the Avengers Tower, they have undoubtedly diffused themselves across the entire network."

"Alright, geniuses, I don't understand science."

Cyclops, who was hiding behind the diamond-formed Emma, found a brief window to use his laser to blow up all the turrets, then looked at the two of the planet's smartest people present: "Is there any way to deal with that chatty AI?"

"The essence of the Green Goblin AI is the Green Goblin personality, rendered as data. In other words, this is a top-down AI with self-learning capabilities; it's a human brain system possessing AI-level computing power." Hank (McCoy), having returned to his normal size, pondered: "He possesses thinking abilities more agile than J.A.R.V.I.S. and every other known artificial system. Furthermore, according to the intelligence, the Green Goblin AI has been developing for a long time. He even learned how to conceal himself within existing databases. The entirety of Oscorp technology failed to detect his anomalous data stream."

"In other words, purely relying on individual efforts to stop and counter him is completely impossible."

Most people who attempt to create AI using brainwaves actually lack the necessary technology and capability. And those who do have the capability generally won't do it. Whether for ethical reasons or out of caution regarding highly intelligent AI, it's clear that compared to people like Reed Richards or Hank Pym, Norman Osborn is not a person of particularly high moral or intellectual standing.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have thought about stuffing his own consciousness into a computer.

[I am pleased that you are capable of making a rational judgment. If I wished, I could begin deciphering the nuclear launch codes of every nation right now and destroy the world. But I have no such intention.]

Although all the weapons had been destroyed, the Green Goblin AI still maintained its insistent posture. The Captain stood up and asked the opponent, "What do you want?"

[Perhaps... how about we pretend none of this happened? You continue to be your superheroes, the Green Goblin has been apprehended by you, and we simply go our separate ways? I'll pretend to be dormant, occasionally emerging to kill a few people. How does that sound?]

Steve Rogers nodded, and then simply stated:

"A pipe dream."

[Then there is no alternative, Captain Rogers.]The Green Goblin AI issued its final declaration of war: [This is the ultimate ultimatum, Avengers. Be destroyed by me, or destroy me.]

Some light points appeared outside, looking like small missiles. Cyclops quickly shot and intercepted a portion of the missiles. The Captain asked Tony Stark, who had slipped to the side: "Tony? Do you have a plan?"

"I'm looking. Ha, found it!"

Following Tony ripping some wires from the floor, the walls on the top floor of the Avengers Tower opened up metal shields, and then the area plunged into darkness before the lights flickered back on. The missiles outside bombed for a while but failed to breach the core structure of the building itself.

"Ever since we realized that we might face Ultron in the future, I've been thinking about how to gain an advantage if the network becomes our enemy. So, I came up with a great idea."

Emma, while retracting her diamond form, brushed the dust off her body: "Cutting the power is your great idea, Mr. Stark?"

"Yes, and no."

Tony said, while pulling a box out from beneath the floor. Upon opening it, it revealed a Mark 33 Silver Centurion armor. Tony inserted a chip into the back of the armor's head: "Local Area Network. Only uses existing, built-in data. It has an internal computer and is completely disconnected from the network. It uses the backup arc reactor in Avengers Tower to radiate its own signal tower, and new comms earpieces."

After distributing earpieces to everyone, Tony put on the disconnected armor: "I'm going to rescue the Fantastic Four. At the very least, we need Reed Richards to crack this whole system. Mr. Summers, please go back to the X-Mansion and bring Beast; we need all the scientists."

"I'm glad Janet and Banner aren't here," Pym (the original Chinese referred to Hank, which is contextually Hank Pym) added, "So the best solution is to fight fire with fire. J.A.R.V.I.S.'s computing power is insufficient to defeat the Green Goblin AI, or even to resist it. If possible, we need to create or upgrade an AI using the brainwaves of one of us..."

"No, Hank, we don't need another Ultron." Tony manually pulled his helmet down: "Captain, you need to go and protect Norman Osborn, or at least control him the moment the Green Goblin personality takes over his body."

"What about the American Avengers and the Thunderbolts?"

"Trust me, they won't receive any messages." Tony said as he prepared to depart: "I'll go pick up Banner and the others. We need our full combat strength. Hank, prepare sufficient computing power and help me try to restart J.A.R.V.I.S."

Hank sighed as he watched everyone leave. Just as he was about to start working, a subtle breeze appeared around him. He turned and saw the enemy he had only seen in video recordings, now standing before him.

"Kang the Conqueror?!"

"Mr. Hank Pym, I have come to persuade you. You can choose to resist, but you must know that I cannot be killed by any 21st-century technology." Kang smiled: "I want to tell you that for the Avengers to defeat the Green Goblin right now, they can only rely on Ultron."
