Chapter 260 - Chapter 260: Doctor Doom Arrives

Thanks to Amadeus's timely notification, the Avengers quickly sealed off the entire Baxter Building. Ultron Drones were constantly cycling in and out, rescuing as many people as possible. However, because of this, the Zombie Fantastic Four inside seemed to have made a strategic adjustment and began rampantly infecting the remaining survivors.

As a large hole was smashed through the high-rise exterior, a tall, muscular man leaped down, one person tucked under his arm, landing in front of the Avengers on guard. Thor looked at the man who had appeared and asked in surprise: "Hercules? You've actually come to Midgard as well?"

"Haha, Thor!"

After setting Amadeus down, Hercules gave Thor an unrestrained hug. "The major pantheons are all beginning to awaken. Didn't you know? You're not the only one who came down."

"Uh, Thor, we can discuss your mythological friends later. First, we have to deal with the Zombie Fantastic Four..."

Before Tony could finish his sentence, a green portal opened right in front of them. The person who emerged from the portal wasn't the frequently aloof Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, but a man wearing high-tech battle armor, an iron mask, and a green cape.

"Doctor Doom? What are you doing here?"

"Reed Richards expects Doom to clean up his foolish mess. I have no interest in competing with your circus, Stark."

Doom had opened the portal here purely for convenience. He snatched the intern ID from Amadeus's chest and swaggered through the main entrance of the Baxter Building. Peter, dangling upside down on a web-line, asked Tony: "We're just letting him walk in?"

"Why not? We still don't know if those zombies are versions of Reed infected by a Multiversal virus or zombies from another Multiverse. Besides, it would be far worse if we got infected." Tony didn't mind Doom scouting ahead or getting killed. "Since he's Reed's old nemesis, let him go in and try."

"Oh, it's the Doom from this universe. He seems to have figured something out."

Zombie Reed smiled when he saw Doctor Doom stride confidently inside. "I'm suddenly very curious what Doom's flesh tastes like."

At this moment, the ground floor of the Baxter Building was littered with the wreckage of Ultron Drones. Doctor Doom didn't even glance at the robots. Facing the infected common zombies, he simply waved his hand, letting countless maggots devour their rotting flesh. He walked into an elevator and ascended directly. Zombie Reed was somewhat surprised by what Doom planned to do. He watched him reach the vacuum lab, use Amadeus's intern ID to open the control panel, and lower the glass wall holding Zombie Human Torch. With the rush of air, Zombie Human Torch smiled.

"Well, friend, you're really thoughtful."

The re-ignited Human Torch rushed toward Doom: "I'll give you a quick death, old friend!"

Green magic swirled around Doom's hands. He then extended one hand and grasped Zombie Human Torch's neck, while opening a portal with the other. He carried the zombie to the roof of the Baxter Building.

"Well, Doom, why are you here? To reverse our state, or to prove you're better than me?"

Zombie Reed asked with a smile. Although he appeared inactive, his back had transformed into a giant sheet of flesh that enveloped Doom from behind: "But you can't be completely seamless inside that armor! I'll pry your armor open and eat your flesh!"

Doom merely looked coldly at Zombie Reed. Zombie Human Torch in his hand grew even brighter.

With a deafening explosion, everyone outside the Baxter Building was stunned. Tony looked at the column of fire shooting into the sky and exclaimed: "What did he do!"

An unharmed Doom tossed down the charred corpse of Zombie Human Torch and the puddle of liquid—Zombie Reed, who was melted by the high temperature and utterly dead. Doom then walked toward Zombie Sue, who had activated a force field around herself. Zombie Sue maintained a fearful smile: "Don't kill me, Victor. You won't kill me, right?"

"...Indeed not."

Seeing Doctor Doom lower his hand, Zombie Sue let out a sigh of relief. She immediately used her telekinesis to crush Doom's head, shouting, "You killed my husband!" However, no blood splattered; only sparks of electricity erupted.

"Because I need a sample to locate your universe."

Doom appeared behind Zombie Sue. Before she could react, as his spell was completed, countless plants burst from inside her body, piercing her entire form and utterly tearing Zombie Sue apart.

Doom snapped his fingers, incinerating the corpses of all the zombies, including Zombie Thing on the lower floors, into complete ashes. He then walked toward the main computer. H.E.R.B.I.E. rolled to his feet, but Doom ignored the robot. He quickly used the residual resonance frequency on the zombies to locate the universe where the Fantastic Four had been swapped out, then looked at the Multiversal connection bridge.

It was unusable. It contained parameters that Doom couldn't crack in a short time. In fact, it was already strange that Reed Richards could even invent a Multiversal travel device. Doom had tried, and even if the theory was sound, the reality was too solid to tear open a spatial rift.

How had Reed managed to overcome a problem that even Doom couldn't solve?

He began searching Reed's computer: the Cosmic Cube, an interesting item, but not enough. An actual entity capable of traversing the Multiverse...

Doom looked at Spider-Man's information on the screen. Opening another portal, he arrived at the base of the Baxter Building and, looking at Tony and the others, stated the result concisely: "The trouble Richards brought from another universe has been solved. If you intend to bring them back, hand Spider-Man over to me."

"Wait, you mean Reed and the others are still alive?" Tony instantly reacted. "But... they went to another universe? A zombie universe?"

If that was the case, then perhaps only Peter could truly go.

"No. The Avengers will find a way. We will send enough Ultron Drones into that Multiverse," Tony stated his immediate opinion. "I don't trust you."

"Doom Bots are a hundred times more sophisticated than Hank Pym's toys, Stark."

Doom said this, but looked at Peter. After a moment of silence, Peter pulled out his phone: "In that case, should I make a phone call first?"
