Chapter 95 - Chapter 95: The Transfer Student

Peter specifically researched Ultron's current state. The good news was that this version of Ultron was relatively rudimentary, not as complex and lifelike as in the movies.

The bad news was that it was exactly like the rudimentary comic book version of Ultron.

However, the current Ultron was indeed more rigid and stiff than J.A.R.V.I.S., with its version only iterated to type two. If this prison didn't belong to Stark Industries, Tony would definitely have used the more superior J.A.R.V.I.S.

Peter wondered if there was a way to prevent Ultron from going rogue if there truly weren't any issues with it now. After all, Pym didn't seem like the "abusive" type; he appeared more like a pacifist, and since Ultron wasn't created by scanning Pym's brainwaves, it seemed feasible.

This matter still needed to be discussed with Hank Pym, to persuade him not to design Ultron with the directive "strive for peace for all humanity." This logic was destined to lead Ultron's simple "0" and "1" brain to extremism. It would be better to be more practical. Hopefully, after the Ultron crisis was resolved, this robot could become a true helper for humanity.

But for now, everything was settled, and it was time to go back.

Peter thought, and after bidding farewell to Ultron, he left the Raft prison.

Due to the American school system being essentially a homeroom-based system with "guidance counselors" responsible for a portion of students' academic performance (like a combination of a homeroom teacher and a psychological counselor), even with new students, there wouldn't be a dedicated teacher for guidance and education. However, after Peter finished his Thursday morning patrol and arrived at school, he was called into his guidance counselor's office.

"Peter, this is Cindy Moon. She's a new transfer student from Vision High School. From her grades, your class schedules are identical."

The teacher, seemingly irresponsible, simply waved his hand and handed the transfer student, Cindy, over to Peter: "So, can you show her around our school? Including classrooms, the library, the cafeteria, and so on."

"No problem."

What could Peter say? He just nodded in agreement, then feigned unfamiliarity as he looked at Cindy and extended his hand: "Nice to meet you, Cindy."

"Nice to meet you, Peter."

Peter didn't interact much with Cindy in his daily life, but he could tell she wasn't very talkative and was quite introverted. The two walked silently to their first class, and finally, Peter, in his awkwardness, spoke first.

"Uh, this is our classroom. There aren't many people. Let's pick seats first."

Peter said, finding his usual seat in the awkward silence. Harry wasn't as early as usual today, so Peter sat in his regular spot, waiting for Harry to arrive.

Cindy looked around the classroom and, seeing that no one was currently sitting next to Peter, walked over with her books and sat down under Peter's gaze.

"...Am I disturbing you?"

"No, no, no, not at all."

Peter smiled and quickly explained, taking out his books to see what classes he had missed these past few days. His super senses heard Harry and Amadeus's voices, and he finally understood why Harry wasn't early: in the days Peter was gone, they had achieved the feat of always entering and leaving school together, becoming even closer as homebody friends.

They walked to the classroom door, and Harry grabbed Amadeus, who hadn't realized what was happening, making him look at the very pretty Asian girl sitting in his usual seat.

"Who's that?"

"I don't know, never seen her before," Amadeus replied matter-of-factly, looking at Harry with an obvious meaning: You're not seriously going to say she's Asian, and I'm Asian too, so I should know her, are you?

That makes no sense!

"I mean, that girl is sitting next to Peter. Look, there are so many empty seats in the classroom, but she chose to sit next to Peter..." Harry whispered, then saw Peter turn and look at them, nodding at Peter, who was clearly confused. Then Harry walked to the last row and sat down with Amadeus—which was also Amadeus's usual seat, only no one ever sat with him.

"Welcome back, buddy."

Harry patted Peter's shoulder as he sat down. Peter took the opportunity to introduce his two friends to Cindy: "Guys, this is Cindy. She just transferred to our school. The teacher asked me to show her around. Cindy, this is Harry, and this is Amadeus. They're both good friends of mine."

Cindy simply nodded at them expressionlessly, then turned back to her book. Harry and Amadeus exchanged glances after sitting down—Amadeus actually had no idea what was going on, Harry had just patted him, so he looked over.

Silence permeated between them. After about another ten seconds, Cindy asked Peter again, "Am I disturbing you?"

"No, definitely not."

Harry answered the question before Peter could. Peter looked Harry up and down, then turned back to his textbook. Harry, meanwhile, sent Amadeus a text message.

[I think we'll have to sit here from now on.]

Amadeus looked at his phone and sent Harry a question mark. Harry glanced at it, then sent Amadeus a new text message.

[Do you think Gwen knows about this?]

Finally, Amadeus sent an expression of sudden realization.

The difficult class finally ended. After Peter packed his things, he looked at Cindy, who was still sitting there with her book, and seemed to finally understand something.

"Shall we... go to the next class?"

Cindy nodded and stood up.

Finally understanding the girl's personality, Peter sighed. He could probably imagine what today would be like. Sure enough, in the next class, Cindy still sat beside him, attending class like a wooden doll, taking notes, and only acting when he spoke to her.

In a way, she was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s perfect employee, as long as he wasn't on a solo mission.

"After school, you can participate in some school activities or something, if you have time. Uh... make some friends?"

After the next class ended, Peter said this to Cindy. Cindy just nodded, then asked Peter a question.

"I feel like you don't have many friends either. Is there a need to make so many friends?"

"Still, make one or two."

Peter scratched his head. There was still a whole day left. Just get through it.

Perhaps there were still four whole years of high school.
