Kimi stood before an ornate mirror in the bridal suite, flanked by two elegant women. Her own mother stood to her left, while Valencia, Kolton's mother, adjusted the delicate lace on her veil.
She turned to face both women, the silk of her wedding gown rustling softly.
"You look absolutely breathtaking in this dress," Valencia whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to Kimi's cheek.
"Thank you, Mom," Kimi replied softly.
She had started calling Valencia 'Mom' weeks ago, and the word felt natural rolling off her tongue now.
Christine stepped forward and wrapped her arms around her daughter. "I pray you'll be the perfect wife for Kolton and everything this family needs."
Kimi nodded, returning the embrace before both mothers departed, leaving her alone with her thoughts for a moment.
