When Kimi pulled away from the embrace, Kirk's intense gaze locked onto hers. Something flickered in the depths of his eyes that she couldn't decipher, though she desperately tried to understand its meaning.
"Kirk, I wanted to tell you-"
The car door swung open abruptly, cutting off her words.
Kimi spun around to find her brother Alvin standing there, his expression unreadable.
"Alvin?" The word escaped her lips in complete shock.
Alvin's attention moved from his sister to the man beside her. The warmth in Kirk's expression vanished instantly as their eyes met.
"Alpha Kolton's Gamma seems to have forgotten his manners. Barging through doors without permission appears to be his specialty."
Alvin's jaw tightened, but he kept his temper in check. His displeasure, however, was impossible to miss.
Kimi remembered all too well how Alvin used to tear Kirk apart with his words. The animosity between them had never faded.
She quickly climbed out of the vehicle and faced Kirk.
