Adalind slipped her arm through Kolton's, her fingers pressing against the expensive fabric of his suit jacket. The contact drew his attention away from the elevator doors that had consumed his focus moments before.
"Let's go," she murmured, her voice carrying a hint of urgency.
Kolton's jaw tightened as they began walking toward the exit. His footsteps echoed sharply against the marble floor of the corporate lobby.
"This is the last time," he said, his tone clipped and final. "Don't ever drag me to this place again."
Adalind's brow furrowed, confusion flickering across her delicate features. "But you gave me your word. You promised you'd help me reclaim my projects."
"I don't need to stare at your Alpha's smug face repeatedly," Kolton replied, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "I'll handle the sponsors directly. Cut out the middleman."
