"This has to be a date! Come on, Kimi, stop being so dense! Of course it's a date," Rylie declared, throwing her hands up in exasperation.
Olive bobbed her head enthusiastically in support.
The trio strolled across the campus quad after finishing their afternoon lectures, autumn leaves crunching beneath their feet.
"I'm not being dense. That thought crossed my mind too. But Bennett was so nonchalant about it, saying he just needed to discuss something with me, so..."
Kimi's voice trailed off, her mind replaying Bennett's exact words from earlier.
He had suggested meeting at the coffee shop downtown. There was something weighing on his mind that required conversation. Their friendship had always been so natural and uncomplicated that romantic intentions never entered her thoughts.
"Listen to me carefully. Bennett has feelings for you. I can see it written all over his face when he looks at you," Olive insisted with conviction.
