Chapter 13 - Why I Love You

Moro was in school at lunch. He had just finished the presentation project. Now, he was sitting in the gym, all alone. No one went there besides him. It was his own little spot away from everyone else.

Suddenly, Scorch appeared right in front of him in a twister of green flames. "Master, I have fully recovered."

"Great. Are you ready for your next assignment?"

"If you ask me to be ready, I shall be."

"Kudos were discovered 340 years ago. But they haven't started to be tamed until 2006. You know what else happened that year? It was the year Pluto was no longer considered a planet. It could be just a coincidence, but I think there's a connection."

"I see. Shall I look into it?"

"Yeah, but don't leave the country. And if things get too tough, respawn by me so you can recover."

"Understood." With a glare, a portal opened in front of Scorch. Out of it, a creature started to come out. A gold, skeletal, fiery horse with glowing orange cracks like molten veins. Its mane and tail were made of green flames, and fire engulfed its lower legs and hooves. This was Scorch's ride. It wasn't a kudo, but rather a manifestation of scorched own energy in horse form.

Scorch got on top of it and rode out of the gym. He tried to get up, but was instantly tackled down by Willow. "Hey, darling."

"Wha- Willow! How did you find me?"

"I know you come here for your little quiet time. Actually, I have 3 satellite tracking your location at all times. It was only a few hundred million, but it's worth it for me to always know where you are."

"Aren't you the little daddy's girl... listen, Willow, can I be real for a second?"

"You can tell me anything, darling. Unless it's that you love another woman. Or that that surprised dog is better than me."

"That's not it. I think you should love someone else."

"Why?"

"Because you're efforts are wasted on me. You're smart, hot enough to make models look ugly, the daughter of one of the richest men on earth, and you work well together in a team. Why on earth would you waste your time on a nobody like me?"

Willow's face grew rather somber. "Because... you're the only one I can love. The only one I want to love."

"But Willow. I've told you time and time again that I love Eternity. She's the love of my life."

"No, I can't accept that!"

"Willow..."

"You... you were the only one that was there for us... Don't you remember?"

It was 7 years ago. Moro was walking down the street with his older sister and younger brother. His older brother had passed away a few weeks ago. The 3 siblings were still trying to get over his death.

Since their house was so close to their home at the time, they could just walk there and back. However, one day, they saw a little girl and her dad on the side of the road. They were homeless. He approached the two, even though his siblings had just told them to move on home.

"Hey."

The father looked up at him. They were both drenched from head to toe. It did rain earlier that day. Moro couldn't help but feel a bit bad for them.

Then, by his side, he summoned a small anubis girl. She had long hair and soft gold eyes. This was a younger Eternity. She looked a bit sad. "Master... why did you summon me?"

"Do you think you could do me a favor?"

"N-No. I-I won't use my powers!"

"Eternity," Moro clasped her hands. "Look at me. It's ok. I don't blame you for his death. It wasn't your fault."

"If only I were stronger... he would have died." Eternity said with tears in her eyes.

"Listen, Eternity. Things won't get better if you keep running from your God given gifts. Now, I need you to do something for me. It's ok. I won't get hurt."

"..."

A minute later, Moro handed the man a bag. Inside the bag was 750,000 dollars. He dropped it in front of the man, and his mouth flew wide open.

Back in the present, Willow still clung to Moro. "You used Eternity's power to turn a 100-dollar bill into enough money to get me and my dad off the streets."

"Yeah, but then when I got home, my dad scolded me for it. He told me that if I did that constantly, I'd be making the economy worse for all other homeless and average people. Which makes sense. It undermines trust in currency, distorts market behavior, increases the money supply illegitimately, and in all fairness, it's just not my style. But that's why I don't do it. Plus, it feels kind of like cheating in life."

"Well, I'm glad you didn't do it for me. With that money, we got a small apartment. My dad learned how to invest and ended up making the revolutionary technology that we use to tame kudos today. You know... the little lassos. The rest is history."

"That's all the more reason you shouldn't be into me. I broke the law to give you money, and frankl-"

"Shhh. I don't care what you say. You won't get me to stop loving you. I'd probably still be on the streets or even dead if it weren't for you."

"Why aren't you listening. I'm telling you that you deserve better. You should be with someone who can give you the love and appreciation you deserve."

"And I'm telling you aren't better than you. You're the only person in my life who hasn't changed around me due to my wealth. All the girls hate me and are jealous of me. They try to approach me, but I can see right through their lying words of flattery. All the guys are either too intimidated to approach me or just want to use me for my body or money. I hate humans... but you... You're different. I want to be with yo-" Suddenly, Willow started to float in the air. And then, from behind Moro, Eternity appeared.

"E-Eternity. I can explain." said a panicked Moro.

"I heard the whole conversation, honey." Eternity said while rubbing his cheek. "No explanation needed." Eternity let Willow down and walked up to her. "Listen, Willow. If you don't truly love my master, you have to respect his decision. And something tells me you know that."

"But... but he... I..."

"I know. But he's his own person with his own will. And his will is for me, not you. I know that hurts, but that's how it is."

"It's not fair! What do you have that I don't?!"

"Nothing, really. We are two completely different people. We offer different things. And he just likes what I offer more."

"Even so... I won't give up! I will win his heart!"

"Stalker..." Eternity turned to Moro. "Honey, why did you pick me over Willow?"

"I've known you longer, you can protect me better, your cooking is great, and I feel comfortable telling you everything. It's not that Willow isn't a wonderful person. I just like you better as a partner, and her stalker tendencies kind of... creep me out."

"Well, there you have it. Look, I don't mind if you want to keep pursuing my soon-to-be husband, Willow. It's not my place to tell you you're fighting a losing battle. But know this. My master does want what's best for you, and that is to give up on him and find someone who can love you in the way you want to be loved. Now, honey, we should leave."

"Ok. A B Cya later, Willow."

And with that, they left Willow alone in the gym. "Moro..."
