Chapter 94 - Chapter 94: The Arrival of Geeta and Sabrina

The moment Haru reappeared in the world, the massive crime syndicate Team Rocket—spanning both the Kanto and Johto regions—began to move.

This was a criminal organization known for illegal poaching and trafficking of Pokémon.

Their leader, Giovanni, publicly held the title of Viridian City Gym Leader in Kanto, but behind the scenes, he had long been planning operations that society could never accept—such as seizing the power of Legendary Pokémon.

Unlike other villainous groups that aimed to use Pokémon to achieve grand visions or utopias, Giovanni desired a Legendary's power purely for his own ambitions.

And so, Team Rocket had been relentlessly tracking a certain Pokémon known as Mew.

Not to capture it directly, but to use its supposedly universal DNA to create an entirely new Legendary Pokémon—one that would be under their complete control.

That Pokémon's name: Mewtwo.

Sure... maybe in the games Mewtwo's power is a little... situational, but in this version of reality, it's definitely still a force to be reckoned with.

Coincidentally, a year ago, they received news of Mew's appearance in Alola.

Giovanni promptly dispatched his operatives to verify the authenticity of the sighting—and to let a certain bumbling trio rack up some "merit" while they were at it.

But... they got blasted back by Nebby's Shadow Beam.

As for the infamous trio, they got launched sky-high while trying to nab a pink Dratini.

Even so, the mission wasn't a total failure. At the very least, Giovanni confirmed that Mew was connected to a man named Haru.

Unfortunately, that man had since left Alola.

Now, a year later, Giovanni suddenly "remembered" everything.

"Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon, huh?"

Sabrina raised an eyebrow as she glanced over the intel Giovanni had handed her. Officially, she was the Gym Leader of Saffron City—but behind the scenes, she was one of Team Rocket's three executives.

In the world of Pokémon, some humans are capable of using psychic powers themselves.

Sabrina was one of them—a powerful psychic in her own right.

So when she received orders from Giovanni, her curiosity was piqued.

As a human, she naturally couldn't physically overpower a Legendary, but the chance to encounter a Psychic-type Legendary firsthand still thrilled her a little.

However, just as she boarded a flight to Paldea, she noticed a short-haired girl with black hair.

The girl looked like a student, carrying a backpack with a green V-shaped hair clip pinned above her forehead.

For some reason, Sabrina's gaze was drawn to her—like the girl had used Attract or Look at Me.

Still, she had a mission to focus on. She couldn't let the other two beat her to it.

With that in mind, Sabrina quickened her pace and boarded the plane.

---

The metallic gleam under the lights sparkled sharply; the room was awash in cold, silvery-gray hues.

Tall bookshelves lined the space, filled with meticulously bound volumes. Their covers shimmered faintly in the light, giving off a chill, scholarly atmosphere.

At the center stood a long table—polished like a mirror—reflecting the images of the two people seated across from each other.

A green-haired woman, with a bust flatter than both Yukino Yukinoshita and Iroha Isshiki's combined, stared at the man in front of her.

"Name?"

"Haru."

"Gender?"

"Male. Also, is it really necessary to go over this again?"

"Oh? I suppose not. After all, you're the man who conquered our Electric-type Gym Leader."

"That's totally not what happened! Don't make stuff up!"

Iono, eavesdropping nearby, immediately flailed her arms in protest.

"Place of birth?"

"If I told you I was born at the site of the Great Hisuian vs. Alpaca War, would you believe me?"

"What even is that?"

"Don't worry about it. Long story short—I don't really know."

"I see. Sorry about that. Got it."

The green-haired woman gave him a look of faint pity, as if her brain had filled in some wild backstory of its own.

Haru rested his chin on his hand, feeling unexpectedly drained.

After finishing his battle at Nemona's house, Haru had immediately requested permission from Clavell to take on the Gym Challenge.

Clavell handed him off to the Pokémon League for official registration.

In the Pokémon world, traditional nation-states don't exist. The Pokémon League holds most of the authority.

And as far as Paldea was concerned, Haru was still technically an undocumented individual. Before he could battle at any Gyms, he needed a legal identity.

Maybe it was because traveling with Iono and Nemona made them a little too conspicuous, but the moment they arrived at League HQ, someone had already taken notice of him.

That green-haired woman wasn't just a random clerk—she was Geeta, the Ground-type member of Paldea's Elite Four.

In other words: a big deal.

Yeah... and her figure certainly matched her typing. Flat—like a desert plain.

"I'm not sure what you're thinking, but you're being rude," she said, side-eyeing Haru. Then she lightly tapped his forehead with her stylus like she was bonking a temple bell.

"?"

Oh hell no.

Feeling slandered, Haru immediately picked up the pen and lightly tapped her forehead with the exact same force.

"Oh? You're more interesting than I thought. Aren't you afraid I'll mess with your paperwork?"

But Geeta didn't get mad. If anything, she smiled after the playful exchange.

"Here. You're all set for the Gym Challenge. Collect eight badges, and you can come back here to challenge the Elite Four."

"Looking forward to seeing you as the next Champion."

She tossed him a slip of paper, then turned to Nemona.

"You too. We've been watching your progress for a while now—we expect you to reach this point soon."

Though Nemona only had three Gym Badges so far, her win streak had already caught the League's attention.

In each of her three Gym battles, she'd practically steamrolled the Gym Leaders to earn her badges with ease.

Gym challenges in the real world aren't some casual affair. They're not something just any rookie can pass—much less crush.

Nemona might truly be Champion material.

And hearing that, she lit up like she'd just scored three crits in a row.

"Eh?! Really?! Can we battle right now, then?"

"..."

Recalling the many... colorful rumors about Nemona, Geeta gave her a helpless smile.

"Nope."

"Also, it seems Director Clavell wants to speak with you both—something about a transfer student and this Mr. Haru."

"But if you're eager to start your Gym Challenge, feel free."

Then she turned her gaze to Iono.

"Why are you looking at me? Wait—don't tell me I'm supposed to fight him too?"

"No worries. We can 'battle' in other ways."

"...What are you two even talking about?"
