Kyren's POV

"Kyren?" Elian called out worriedly as the crowd dispersed, giving way for him.
The rogue king squatted close to the man on the floor, placing his right hand over his head.
"M–My Lord, be careful!" A little girl shouted with fear, clinging close to her mother.
Kyren barely registered her little voice as he tilted his head while scrutinising the man who was still alive… but barely clinging to life.
"Was this man walking alone?" He asked with a loud voice that pierced through the murmuring, scanning his eyes around. "Anybody?"
A young woman in her twenties ran up to him just then, her face streaked with tears. She parted strands of her black hair before croaking.
"H–He's my big brother. We just walked out of a bakery after he bought me muffins and then took a bite."
Ugh, family ties.
Kyren had secretly hoped that the man didn't have anyone close to him who was nearby. That would make what he was about to do more… delicate.
