"This place will do."
Two days later, Aerodactyl hovered with Ace over a relatively gentle plain.
From his vantage point, Ace surveyed the entire landscape and finally chose a spot. Aerodactyl slowly descended with him.
"System, this is it. It's up to you."
Ace stomped his foot firmly on the ground. After feeling the feedback, he decided to build his residence here.
"Please select a house type."
Soon, the system marked the chosen area with its dimensions, then various house models appeared before Ace.
Virtual 3D house models were projected in front of Ace. He could freely examine details and pick a house that suited his liking.
"This one."
After looking at seven or eight options, Ace chose a minimalist, three-story house with not too many luxurious decorations.
"Selection complete. Commencing construction. Time taken: two hours."
As the system's voice sounded, Ace and Aerodactyl were gently pushed out of the construction area by a soft force.
Then, to Ace's astonished gaze, a three-story building rose from the ground. In just half an hour, the framework of the three-story building was entirely complete.
The remaining hour and a half would be spent on details and interior decoration.
When the two hours were up, a building spanning over 500 square meters was fully constructed. The remaining nearly 200 square meters were converted into a yard, which contained nothing special, just a small fish pond, a lawn, and a small path paved with bluestone slabs leading directly to the house's front door.
"Not bad."
Ace nodded, looking at the structure that was identical to the model. He then recalled Aerodactyl and walked towards the house.
"Click."
He opened the door with a key. Inside was a simple living room. The system had provided a full set of furniture, which saved Ace a lot of trouble.
The first and second floors were living areas. As for the third floor, it was a large gym.
However, when choosing, Ace had not selected gym equipment, but rather some research equipment.
After all, compared to exercising, Ace preferred to do research, especially with the "Researcher" title mission. Ace still needed knowledge in that area.
"Let's tidy up first."
Ace thought for a moment and quickly walked to the study on the second floor.
He opened the study door and looked at the empty bookshelves. Ace took out some of the books he had in his backpack and placed them on the shelves.
"System, please bring up some relevant books on Mewtwo and Mew."
"Mewtwo Training Manual: 28000 Gold."
"Mew Training Manual: 30000 Gold."
"Psychic System Overview: 1200 Gold."
"Genetic Engineering: 3000 Gold."
"Training Techniques: 6700 Gold."
...
Looking at the dozens of pages of miscellaneous items, Ace's mouth twitched. He checked his current balance of just over 37,000 Gold and suddenly realized he didn't have enough money.
"Forget it, I don't really need these things for now. They're too high-end. I'll pick myself."
Ace sighed and searched for some books. Soon, over ten books appeared on the desk.
These books, combined, only cost three thousand Gold, offering excellent value for money.
He temporarily placed these books on the shelf. Ace returned to the living room, checked that the house had electricity and water, then walked out of the house and released all his Pokémon.
"This will be our new home from now on."
Looking at the Pokémon gathered on the grass, Ace said, "Things are temporarily settled, but don't slack off, everyone. Daily training must be completed on time and in full. Any problems?"
Ace's Pokémon all nodded. They didn't resist training at all because it was the process of getting stronger.
Only meaningless activities would make them sad.
The Pokémon began their daily training, but Ace didn't stay with them. Instead, he had Aerodactyl carry him around their new home, starting to survey the area.
The area Ace had chosen was in the southeasternmost part of the Kanto region, surrounded by sea on two sides, with a vast plain behind it. The terrain was extremely open.
The nearest city was Fuchsia City, but walking from here to Fuchsia City would take at least two or three days, indicating how secluded the place Ace had chosen was.
However, this was unavoidable.
If it were closer to a city, putting aside everything else, if Ace continued to hunt or dissect Pokémon as he used to.
The moment he did it, he would probably be reported and spend several years in a League prison.
Moreover, and more importantly, when Ace's Pokémon trained, they caused quite a bit of destruction to the surroundings. If they were in a crowded area, they wouldn't be able to train to their fullest.
So, to avoid these two points, the place Ace chose had to be far from people, as secluded as possible.
As for living supplies, Ace wasn't bothered at all. At worst, he would have Aerodactyl carry him, buying a month's worth of supplies back.
Aerodactyl returned with Ace, then joined the training.
Ace, meanwhile, took out a notebook and began to record.
"Estimated distance to the sea is about 700 meters, no beach, all rocks..."
"The plain is vast, with an estimated diameter of about 5,000 meters. Even intense battles wouldn't cause much damage..."
"Sparse forest area, few Pokémon, won't be disturbed..."
"There's a rocky area to the west, too far away to be a threat..."
Carefully recording all the information he observed, Ace found that apart from its remote location, there was nothing else unacceptable about this place.
"So, next up is this..."
Ace put away his notebook and pen, then took out a Pinap Berry, obtained from a main quest, from his pouch.
In the games, a Pinap Berry restores 10 PP when eaten by a Pokémon.
In reality, it's a very rare Berry that can restore energy stored within a Pokémon's internal organs.
And the main reason Ace had previously gone to investigate the surrounding area was that he planned to build a Berry farm.
Berries were extremely cheap in the system's store, ranging from one to twenty Gold per berry.
In the future, Berries would become commonplace and not very valuable.
But right now, they were an extremely rare type of cultivation material, worth a significant amount of money!
Ace could completely use this to earn a profit from the price difference, making up for his current lack of funds.
"System, can you help expand a Berry farm?"
Ace asked the system. With the system's help, establishing a Berry farm would be much more convenient and quick.
"Expansion cost: 30000 Gold."
Ace: ...
