But when he saw the four giant snakes appear, he decided not to keep fighting.
Salamander Ibuse was dead — rage filled his heart. He needed revenge.
But not now. He needed an opportunity — a chance to erase Gekko Chizan completely.

Five giant snakes ran through the forest, and their target was the Five-Tails. Even a Tailed Beast, the five snakes showed no fear.
"Take over from Jiraiya, subdue the Five-Tails — that's our mission!"
"Ladies, please!"
Gekko Chizan pressed his palms together and gathered natural energy with all his focus to maintain the Titan Python's drive.
At his command, Urokohane — as the eldest sister — responded first.
The massive snake suddenly coiled and leapt into the sky, soaring toward the Five-Tails.
Jinlin also accelerated fiercely; as the Golden Python, she was born to fight in close quarters.
Kurohebi and Yamoryū stayed beside Gekko Chizan — one began collecting venom, the other started rattling her tail.
The Five-Tails, Kokuō, still venting fury, chased after Jiraiya and was completely unaware that five hunters had rushed up behind her.
"Damn her! Everyone, attack!"
With a roar Gekko Chizan announced the start of the battle.
He struck first. Though the Titan Python's body was considerably smaller, it was formed of chakra; under Gekko Chizan's control, it sprang upward and clamped onto Kokuō's big head, sinking its fangs in.
"What the—!"
"Christ! A ghost from Konoha! You damned brat!"
Gekko Chizan grinned as the Titan Python wrapped around Kokuō's neck and bit down.
Kokuō screamed in pain, steam billowing violently as she felt the long worm tightening around her throat. She abandoned her current targets, including Katsuyu and Jiraiya, and turned to deal with Gekko Chizan. But when she turned she became confused.
What did she see?
Snakes in the sky, snakes on the ground — serpents of every color had surrounded her.
"Roar!"
Jinlin led the charge, bursting out like a spiritual serpent and smashing into Kokuō's flank. Even a physically powerful beast like Kokuō staggered from the sudden impact.
Attacks from Kurohebi and Yamoryū followed in quick succession.
Green light, like venomous fangs, struck Kokuō. The poisonous assault made her howl in pain and try to unleash another roar.
But the sonic burst hit and she couldn't form a shout — she was dazed.
Then Urokohane descended from the sky and slammed into Kokuō with a meteoric strike.
Though not as heavy as Katsuyu, Urokohane fell from such a height that gravity's acceleration still forced Kokuō onto the ground.
"Ahhhh!"
"I'm going to kill you! I'll kill you all!"
Kokuō was frantic — completely beyond endurance.
She had just been slammed by a toad and then pinned by snakes. Had she cursed the day she left the house?
"Stay put!"
"Namikaze can handle things too — take the Four-Tails away, or that monkey will be even harder to deal with than you!"
Gekko Chizan's words dripped with contempt for the Five-Tails, which nearly drove the already short-tempered Kokuō into a blind rage; her eyes burned blood-red.
Steam kept erupting from her body, but the Titan Python was a chakra-constructed body and did not emit steam. It held tight to her neck.
All four other snakes launched full attacks and swarmed the Five-Tails.
Jinlin bit and rammed, Kurohebi bit and released poison, Yamoryū used sonic blasts while binding one of her forelegs.
Urokohane descended and used her own body to restrain Kokuō.
The five snakes successfully subdued a Tailed Beast.
Even Kokuō couldn't break free and was being pounded badly.
"My god — am I seeing things?"
"Chizan that brat... suppressed the Five-Tails???"
Jiraiya rubbed his eyes in disbelief. He thought maybe the Five-Tails had beaten him senseless and everything was an illusion.
He pinched himself hard to make sure he was truly awake.
"Katsuyu, tell me — is the Five-Tails being suppressed?"
"Jiraiya, you aren't mistaken. That's exactly what's happening."
Even Katsuyu, usually thick-skinned, was stunned and gaped at the scene.
So brutal — those five snakes. If it had been him, he'd have been torn to shreds.
"Chizan, that guy's stamina is incredible."
"Any ideas?"
Yamoryū asked Gekko Chizan through a special sound-wave query.
Gekko Chizan had noticed the problem too: Kokuō's greatest asset was her physical body. To injure her required either someone of equal rank or a more devastating method.
"Sorry, everyone — none."
"We just need to hold her down!"
Gekko Chizan's goal wasn't to defeat the Five-Tails outright; he only needed to restrain her.
He could have sent the Five-Tails away directly, but the idea of suppressing a Tailed Beast at the center of the battlefield would place psychological pressure on Iwagakure's shinobi — that's why he chose to attack here.
"You bastards!"
"Let me go!"
"I'll gut you!"
Steam continued to rage, but the snakes' suppression was relentless.
Especially Gekko Chizan — he quickly used shadow clones to create a bunch of duplicates, each wielding the Kusanagi Sword and hacking at Kokuō. The damage wasn't huge, but the aim was psychological.
Sure enough, covered by that series of attacks, Kokuō finally gave Gekko Chizan a precious system prompt.
