Chapter 5 - Chapter 5- Nature Phenomenon, Hundred Thousand Mountains

Lin Bao'er's beautiful eyes widened, her tender little face filled with disbelief. She stared blankly at Le Xiao's corpse, her mind a blank.

This was the Great Elder of the Evil Dragon Cave, a terrifying expert of the Golden Core realm!

He just died... like that???

Huan Changge didn't look at Lin Bao'er. Instead, he bent down and began rummaging through Le Xiao's corpse. Soon, he found a storage ring.

"Holy cow, I don't have any cultivation, I can't open this storage ring."

His gaze shifted to Lin Bao'er. Since he couldn't open the ring, he'd have to rely on her.

At the same time, Huan Changge finally noticed Lin Bao'er's appearance—and his eyes lit up. What a beautiful young girl. Could she be the scar-faced man's daughter?

"What's your relationship with this scar-faced man?"

His question snapped Lin Bao'er back to reality. She blinked and pouted, "How could I possibly be related to someone so ugly? His name is Le Xiao, the Great Elder of the Evil Dragon Cave. I'm Lin Bao'er, a disciple of the Nine Swords Sect."

"Tonight, a natural phenomenon occurred in the Hundred Thousand Mountains. The sect suspected a celestial treasure had descended, but unexpectedly, we were ambushed by Le Xiao. All the disciples the Nine Swords Sect sent—except for me—died at his hands."

As she spoke, a shadow crossed her expression. But soon she looked up again and bowed slightly, her tone sincere.

"Thank you, senior, for saving my life. If you hadn't helped, I would've been captured and dragged to the Evil Dragon Cave."

She eyed Huan Changge curiously. Though his clothes were ragged and he looked like a beggar, she had witnessed the battle.

Now, in her heart, Huan Changge had become a peerless expert.

Even Le Xiao, a Golden Core realm cultivator, was slain effortlessly by his hands. Could this man be... a Nascent Soul stage cultivator?

She gasped internally. In all of You Province, there hadn't been a Nascent Soul expert in hundreds of years!

Even her father, Lin Qingshan—the Sect Master of the Nine Swords Sect—had been stuck at the peak of the ninth level of Golden Core for centuries.

To encounter a Nascent Soul expert here in the Feixian Mountain wilderness was unimaginable.

Huan Changge had no idea what she was thinking. He just handed Le Xiao's ring to her.

"The scar-faced man is dead. Can this storage ring be opened?"

Lin Bao'er tilted her head. "After Le Xiao died, his imprint dissipated. This ring is now ownerless, so of course, it can be opened."

"Great, then can you get some food out of this storage ring?"

Nascent Soul experts are really unpredictable, Lin Bao'er thought.

Without question, she nodded and soon pulled out some food from the ring.

She also caught a glimpse of the mountain of treasures and pills inside and was momentarily stunned.

As expected of the Evil Dragon Cave's Great Elder. The wealth stored inside was beyond dazzling.

Yet Lin Bao'er didn't feel a trace of greed.

She knew: everything inside belonged to this senior.

Huan Changge chewed on the dry rations she handed over, while Lin Bao'er watched him curiously.

"Why are you looking at me?"

Before she could answer, there was a loud thump! Lin Bao'er suddenly knelt in front of him.

Huan Changge was dumbfounded. Even the dry rations in his hand didn't taste good anymore.

"What are you doing?"

Lin Bao'er bowed deeply. "Senior, you saved me. That proves one thing."

"What thing?"

"That senior and this little girl are destined to meet."

Huan Changge chewed thoughtfully. "This is called destiny?"

She nodded solemnly. "Of course! In such a vast world, how could we meet without destiny?"

"Senior, since fate brought us together, can you accept me as your disciple?"

"accept you as my disciple???"

Huan Changge was flabbergasted. He never thought this loli girl would ask to be his disciple!

"Senior, even if you don't accept me, please let me stay with you. I'll serve you wholeheartedly."

Lin Bao'er was dead serious.

She knew: in the world of cultivation, Nascent Soul experts were legendary beings. If she could become his disciple, it would change her life forever.

Huan Changge scratched the back of his head.

He didn't mind the idea. After all, being alone in this rundown temple was boring.

And with such a cute girl beside him? Who wouldn't want that?

But then reality hit him.

Though he was strong within his Invincible Domain, the strength came from the system.

Outside this domain, even Lin Bao'er—though young—could probably beat him up.

What could he possibly teach her?

Ludo? Landlord card games? Mobile games?

He sighed. What a waste of his past life.

As he frowned and mulled over it, Lin Bao'er grew anxious.

Would senior refuse her?

She bit her lip, kneeling silently, not daring to look up.

Huan Changge didn't speak immediately.

Yes, he had no techniques or experience to teach.

But—he thought suddenly—there was one thing he did need help with: food.

He couldn't keep risking his life leaving the Invincible Domain for food!

He looked at Lin Bao'er again.

Maybe accepting her wasn't a bad idea after all...
