Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Dungeon Diving II - Creation

13th Floor-

Ryuta found a vast empty space, setting up a temporary workshop, a mystical formation that automatically attacked any monster that appeared within a 10 meter radius. The core were the eight floating swords and the magic circle automatically sends all monster drops and magic crystals to Ryuta.

"Now then… what do I do with these?"

Unaware of the power system of this world and the limits of power that adventurer's had, Ryuta was currently staring at a mountain of magic stones, all of different sizes and next to it was a smaller pile of monster drops-

The monsters he encountered were all varied, he saw a bunch of lizard monsters, a rooster, tiny green monsters he assumed were goblins, their older cousins, orcs, horned rabbits (at least that's what he thinks they are), large ants, moths, butterflies, bats, and even a few demons.

All of these were easily hunted down by Ryuta, but-

"The deeper I go, the stronger they become and the faster their "respawn" time is-"

He looked towards the wall a few meters away from him, from it a monster was "born" but it was quickly felled by a flying short sword. Its magic stone floating towards the pile but it did not leave any drops-

"Stronger, greater number and the stones also get larger… I could see why people go in parties"

With his observation, Ryuta quickly understood the value of having teammates-

"The biggest hassle is-"

Ryuta stared at the pile of spoils, other adventurers would have drooled seeing this but to Ryuta- this was just a big headache.

He loved money, Ryuta knew that these spoils were valuable but taking them back?

He's not an idiot who would die because of overconsumption.

"Not to mention… I don't really know anyone…"

Ryuta did not know if hiding the stones and drops in the dungeon was possible.

Through his observation, he could already tell-

'The dungeon is alive'

If he left the magic stones and drops somewhere, the best case scenario was adventurers finding the stockpile and cashing them out-

The worst case? The spoils are consumed by the dungeon and made into more monsters-

'With this amount… it's likely that a stampede could happen'

Ryuta was unaware of the jargon this world uses but he did have his own, "monster stampede"- that was basically a scenario that was used in many RPG games and even some pieces of fiction.

Dungeon crawlers use them as events where players are forced to face an endless tide of monsters.

Stories use them as convenient plot devices to kill, injure or just harm people important to an MC causing growth.

Ryuta was not sure if his idea was right but he won't take the risk.

The last thing he wants is for "uneducated" actions to lead to a disaster and being seen as a heretic or criminal-

'I'm not the MC so… if I did cause trouble then I'd most likely become public enemy number 1 and that… that's not a title you'd want to have in a harem fantasy'

Ryuta had long considered this universe one that was based on a harem story.

It could be good, it could be bad, he didn't know what kind of story it was but he was NOT going to be in the main characters bad side-

'Moreover, I still don't know if my advancement speed will be fast or slow-'

Hephaestus had told him about the problem with advancements.

The issue related to the speed of advancement is closely tied to the base talent of the person and their upper limits.

Ryuta did not know what his "upper limits" were but he did know his base talent-

Of course, the data that Hephaestus and Hestia had were- unreliable, after all, that was data based on Ryuta's current, experience self.

Not only did his powers get nerfed but he also had to rely on external factors to improve himself.

Unfortunately, his time in this world was still too short and the things he knew were few and far between.

'I wonder…'

Staring at the pile of stones and materials, an idea suddenly popped up in Ryuta's mind.

The can he used to enchant the church manifested, the gem glowing a brilliant blue as the young man pointed it towards the magic stones-

'I wonder if it's possible to create something from these…'

Ryuta recalled all the magecraft he had learned, although he was not a "normal" magus, he still learned true magecraft and fortunately, his origin and attributes may have been the perfect pair as it not only allowed him to reach the pinnacle in the Nasuverse, it also gave him a chance here-

'I see… I COULD use it that way'

As an experienced magus, Ryuta quickly identified the properties of the magic stones-

'A crystalized form of mana… life energy… if its this-'

An idea quickly appeared in his head, using alchemical principles, the manipulation of flow, his elemental affinities, earth, Lightning (a combination of fire and wind), both were used to combine three small magic stones.

They took the form of a jewel, a crimson jewel and then-

'For the spell… maybe Muspelheim would do-'

By his will, a magic formation quickly formed inside the jewel, then-

⋆✴︎˚。⋆ *SHINE* ⋆✴︎˚。⋆

The jewel glowed a brilliant crimson and after the light faded, what was left was a seamless gem. A beautiful crimson jewel that looked like any other previous stone but-

Ryuta turned to a nearby monsters that had started to emerge from the floor outside the formation of his workshop-

"Let's test it-"

Being quite familiar with the manipulation of energies, Ryuta quickly identified the foreign energy known as magic.

Coming from Falna, it was an energy that differed from OD but- it's purpose was the same.

The only difference was that OD, the source of mysteries is rooted to life energy, it would basically drain Ryuta's stamina to use magecraft but magic- it stemmed from something more… metaphysical.

The soul, unlike OD that uses his physical bodies energy, magic used the souls energy-

'Od is just soul energy turned into life energy before being transformed into prana, magic directly uses the energy of the soul… which is more efficient is up to the user but for me-'

The source of the energy was basically the same, but Ryuta was someone who had mastered magecraft.

To him, Od was like diesel while the soul energy was crude oil. He could use soul energy for magecraft but- the spells he had were not really "made" to do that.

But-

What Ryuta found out after this test of creating an item in this world made him see a loophole-

The spell formula he used was the same but when it was imprinted on a magic stone, this world version of crystalized mana, the result of that experiment was an item that could cast magecraft, efficiently using the soul power people in this world were familiar with-

It was like creating an engine that could run on both diesel and crude oil, at the same efficiency!

But, for now, it was still a theory- one that Ryuta was going to test-

Carefully, Ryuta manipulated his "magic" into the crimson jewel, and the jewel started to glow with a bright red light.

Ryuta did not test the upper limits of the jewel, after all, this was just a test, to validate his theory on the relationship between magecraft and magic-

'If all goes well… maybe I won't need to be a magic stone miner…'

He thought.

Ryuta, although he acted like an idiot, and although he looked like he was constantly spacing out and looking at women's asses. He was still a magus who had power that even a use of True Magic faced seriously.

If he wasn't skilled, then the old man, Zelretch would have just whisked him away without even confronting him.

"A magus is always prepared, always thinking and always planning his next step…"

Ryuta, although this was stated many times, it has to be emphasized again.

He grew up in a world where one's own name could lead to their deaths. All it takes is for an enemy to "see" them for a mage to die.

In such a world, Ryuta had taken center stage, stood alongside a woman who dared to go against it all-

Yet, even with such circumstances, Ryuta lived, he stood strong, in the end, it took a man who could shatter reality to make him risk his life-

Such a man- if he didn't even bother to test his own abilities completely, to understand his limits completely, then his achievements, his power, would all have been a lie-

He was not a spoiled brat who grew up with a system.

He crawled through hell with a smile and now, he's planning to use all that to his advantage.

*boom*

An explosion occurred at the spot where the monster was about to emerge, a perfectly smooth crater had formed-

The bedrock was not melted, nor was it crushed-

It was disintegrated-

Observing the effect of the jewel, Ryuta smirked, he turned to the pile of magic stones, his face beaming with joy-

"This world… is gonna be real fun~"

Ryuta muttered as he stared at the pile of ashes that was the monster that was burned to dust by the jewel.

'Three small stones and that was made… I wonder~'
