Chapter 170 - Chapter 170

Behind The Spotlight Chapter 170

"Hmph! That grandfather of yours!" Gloria scoffed with her arms crossed.

"He always tells you that every 5th generation of his lineage has superpowers, hah! Who would even believe that? He wasn't even sure what generation he was." Gloria mocked her dead husband, though a hint of longing flashed through her eyes.

Gloria's grandchildren listened, and so did Collin. Even his relatives from his father's side listened since Gloria was the oldest person at the event.

"He said that every 5th generation, one person in their lineage will get a superpower or something. He bragged that one of his ancestors was a female Shaman in Japan who could speak to dead people. Heh, robably a lie!"

"He even said that his ancestor was Julius Augustus Caesar! The Roman Emperor! Who would believe that? He said Julius Caesar established Rome because he had this so-called 'System'. I swear, your grandpa was unreliable sometimes." She shook her head.

"But you love him though."

"... Hmph!"

Everyone laughed, including Aida and Evelyn. They had fond memories of Gloria and her husband.

However, one person was not laughing. Collin had a stiff smile, trying to appear unfazed despite the thoughts in his mind.

'... Let's say that grandpa is right, then that means my generation is the 5th generation and I'm the chosen one?' His heart thumped faster.

Collin decided not to think about it seriously. He also remembered his grandfather telling stories about their ancestors, but he never paid attention. Now that he thought about it, maybe his grandfather had been onto something.

Still, as much as Collin wanted to confirm his grandfather's belief, he had no intention of revealing his secret. He would take it to the grave.

...

...

...

"What do you think of my car~? It's amazing, right~? I love the color~."

Princess Chantal was wearing a fluffy pink jacket and short shorts. Her curly hair was tied in a ponytail, and she wore oversized sunglasses with glittery pink rims.

"... You have matching outfits," Collin said, glancing between Princess Chantal and the light pink Lamborghini, wondering if she planned this.

"I know, right~?"

"... Yeah." It had only been a week since the last time he talked to Princess Chantal, yet her tone and accent had completely changed.

After living in California for more than a year, Princess Chantal had adopted a Californian Valley accent.

'The record label taught her to change her accent, but I didn't expect her to become a valley girl instead,' Collin thought.

Princess Chantal now talked nasally, dragging her last words. She loved saying like~, oh my god~, totally~, whatever~.

"Like~, oh my god~, when I saw the pink car~, I totally love it~."

"... Yeah." Collin had lived in California most of his life, so hearing the valley accent was nothing new. He just didn't expect Princess Chantal to adapt to it so fast.

'Does fame really change a person?' Or was she simply unleashing a part of herself she had never shown?

It was hard not to change.

With Hollywood pressure, it wasn't surprising that Princess Chantal's accent shifted to match the trends.

Collin turned to Isabella, who now looked completely professional. She wore her formal attire, looking prim and proper, exuding a cool-headed manager aura. Isabella had become Princess Chantal's manager and handled her daily tasks. Aside from Isabella, there was also a tall, buff Black man standing a few meters away. He was the retired Marine Princess Chantal chose from Collin's list, now her bodyguard.

The bodyguard had a Yellow Talent in his profession.

As of now, three of Collin's clients had bodyguards, while Wyatt and Axel refused. Wyatt wasn't the type to get a stalker, and Axel was confident in protecting himself.

'... Although with Wyatt's new appearance, I might have to convince him to hire a bodyguard.'

Wyatt was attractive now.

"I want you to teach me how to drive~." Princess Chantal dragged the last word.

They were at a driving range, which Isabella had rented entirely for her friend.

"Of course. You said I should teach you first. And if you pass, I won't need to find a driving instructor."

"Totally~."

Collin wasn't sure if she was following a trend or if this was her new genuine behavior.

Collin sat in the passenger seat next to Princess Chantal.

"Okay, first, I want you to put on your seatbelt. Then..."

Princess Chantal followed every instruction. She never had the chance to learn how to drive before, Isabella always drove her. Now she wanted to drive her pink Lamborghini herself, so she had to learn, and she was visibly excited.

The first few minutes went well. She learned fast. But the moment she got comfortable, she wanted to drive fast just to enjoy the car, ignoring Collin's warnings.

Princess Chantal sped up, and Collin gripped his seat tightly. He kept telling her to slow down, but she only giggled. The car wobbled… but they didn't crash, thanks to sheer luck or divine intervention.

The pink Lamborghini drifted back toward where Isabella and the bodyguard were waiting. Isabella shook her head in deep disappointment, while the bodyguard stood frozen, mouth open in disbelief. The car had drifted and spun like some god-damned NASCAR vehicle. Yet it didn't look like a professional race at all, it looked like drunk driving.

'... No wonder Isabella rented a driving range. Chantal might have killed a person if she drove in public! If Jennifer heard this, she would go crazy.' Collin felt his stomach turning and vowed never to ride with her again.

"What do you think~? It's great, right~? Totally great~! I learned that whole thing from Initial D." She looked extremely proud.

"More like Initial DUI..." Collin was pale.

"Chantal, I think it will be good if Isabella and your bodyguard drive you every time." Collin looked at Isabella, and she nodded seriously.

"Why?"

"For your own good."

'And the good of every pedestrian within fifty miles.' Collin swallowed that last sentence.

The woman looked confused, but Collin didn't want to explain. Isabella would handle it politely… or forcefully if needed.
