He leaned back in his chair like a man personally offended by the concept.
Dinner was warm. Soft lighting. The long table polished dark wood, candles flickering lazily. Lyra and the other servants moved quietly, refilling glasses, setting down dishes that smelled rich and sinful. Mortal cuisine tonight. Grilled meat, herb butter, wine that cost more than most small companies.

Rava rested her chin on her hand, smiling lazily. "My assistant reported everything to me."
Lux groaned. "Of course you sent your assistant."
"I have assistants spying on everything."
He pointed a fork at her. "That's toxic."
"It's efficient."
She grinned.
"He said you and Sirena looked like two corporate rivals negotiating a hostile takeover."
Mira's eyes lit up instantly. "Oh? Now I'm curious."
