Naomi's voice wasn't loud, but it landed like a stone. No drama. Just fact. It wasn't even an accusation—more like a clinical observation she was still trying to process.
Lux didn't flinch. He just looked at her. Calm. Hands wrapped around his still-warm coffee mug. His eyes weren't glowing or flaring or doing anything overtly demonic. But there was weight there. A kind of stillness that made the whole table go quiet again.
"I didn't swing a blade," he said softly.
"But you knew what would happen," Naomi whispered.
Lux smiled. A slow, dark thing that curled at the edges like burning parchment.
"Yeah," he murmured. "I saw it with my own eyes. It was… interesting to watch. People turning on each other. No threats. No direct orders. Just… temptation. Letting them chew on it. Let it fester. Until it bloomed."
Sira sipped her juice. Not even bothering to hide her amusement. She'd seen worse. Been worse. "Classic," she said under her breath.
