He groaned—a deep, unguarded sound—and for a moment, their eyes locked.
They both laughed then—low, dark, knowing laughs that belonged to two demons who understood exactly what they were doing.
"You're enjoying this," he said, voice low.
"So are you," she shot back, her smirk shaky but still there.
"Oh, very much."
His fingers pressed harder, and her hips jerked under him.
He was still in pain—she could see it in the way his jaw tightened, the way his breath sometimes hitched—but instead of dampening the heat, it seemed to sharpen it.
There was something intoxicating about the fact that even hurt, Lux Vaelthorn was still the one in control, still the one making her lose composure.
And Pride? Pride liked that far too much.
