Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 - Missing Pieces

POV -Chaos

Steven came around and opened Alpha Carlisle's door and he stepped out. I stayed behind, unsure what to do. A woman came out to greet him with an embrace.

"Did you... find what you needed?" She asked.

"I don't know. It got... complicated, and I don't know what happens next." He said.

He released her and looked around. "Elias?" He asked her. She looked down and shook her head. Alpha sighed, and his shoulders dropped. He nodded.

"What will you do?" The woman asked.

"Try." He said.

They entered the house and Alpha gave a whistle for me. I hopped down from the car and followed him, careful to stay at heel where Sam had taught me. I had never been in the main areas of a pack house, and Kyas had never been allowed past the dining tables in Cedar River, so we were both awestruck as we looked around, but eventually I got overwhelmed, and decided to just concentrate on following Alpha.

Holding his mate's hand, they went upstairs and I followed behind. We went up more flights to the top floor. We got to one door, and Alpha told me to sit. He used a snap and point gesture that I didn't recognize, but lucky for me, I actually do understand his words.

"Did you teach him that, so fast?" The Luna asked.

"Nope, I haven't taught him a thing. I guess Cedar River had a good kennel master. Ruby, this is Blaze." He said.

Luna Ruby leaned down and offered her hand to me. I lowered my head and put my ears back, showing submission, and bumped her hand with my muzzle.

Alpha knocked on the door. "Elias? Papa is home. I've come to see you. There's someone I want you to meet."

A small voice came from the other side. "Go away, Papa. I don't want to meet anyone, I'm tired. I will meet them tomorrow. "

Alpha pressed his forehead to the door. "Did Mama tell you I was bringing a surprise for you? Don't you want it?"

"Maybe tomorrow. I'm too tired." The voice replied.

"Elias, how about I set the surprise just inside your door, and we can discuss it at breakfast tomorrow?" Alpha Carlisle pleaded.

Silence stretched for a long time. Finally, a soft "Ok." Came from the other side. Alpha and Luna visibly exhaled.

Alpha slowly opened the door, and motioned me to go in.

"Easy, Blaze. Take it easy with him." He said, and then closed the door behind me.

The room was dark, being on the eastern side of the house, facing the forest, it lost the sunlight long before we came in. A single lamp between two beds lit up a small part of the huge room, casting the rest into shadows.

I cautiously made my way farther inside, a sniffle in a dark corner caught my attention. As I got closer, a young boy sat facing the corner, his knees pulled up to his chest, quietly crying. Elias. I padded closer, but didn't want to startle him too bad, so I opened my mouth into a soft pant.

Elias inhaled sharply, understanding that he was no longer alone in the room. In my mind, Kyas anxiously watched over the barrier, his light blue aura color began to flicker, stronger to lighter. Elias looked over at me, and I stopped. I continued the soft panting.

He shifted slightly away from me, but something in me didn't want to let him pull away. I shifted a little closer, close enough to share my body heat with him. I dropped down to my belly and moved closer still, and Elias straightened his legs to back away again. Before he could bend them again, I scooted forward, placing my head in his lap.

The second I touched him, Kyas' aura exploded into blinding blue! At the same time, I saw the same blue explosion around Elias. It was a quick, powerful surprise, that left all three of us shocked. Elias tentatively placed his hand on my head, and the auras around him and Kyas pulsed again.

'It feels like coming home, Chaos.' Kyas said in wonder. 'Like I got a missing piece back, that I didn't know was gone.'

I acknowledged him, because I could feel that through him too. I also found another bond from me to him, like the one from Alpha, but not as strong as the one to Kyas. We didn't know what it meant, but we both just wanted to keep touch contact with Elias. A wave of sadness suddenly rocked me, and it unmistakably came from Elias.

I pushed forward, and up, licking his face, washing away salty tears. He threw his arms around my neck and I sat down strong, ready to be his rock in the storm. Kyas cried with him in his room beyond the barrier.

"Why can't I be enough for him, dog? Why does Father keep leaving me, for him, when I'm here, and he's gone? I think... I think he wishes it was me who died." Elias sobbed.

I whined, feeling his pain so strongly, and understanding the other side of it. That the Alpha was being tricked the whole time. In his room, I felt Kyas come as close to the barrier as he could.

'Chaos, I need to do something. I don't know how I know what to do, but I need you stay very still. Stay in contact with him.' He tells me.

'Ok.' I say back.

Kyas' blue aura intensified, and I could see the aura around Elias get brighter too. Then, over Elias', a deep purple began to overshadow the blue. I don't know how he did it, but Kyas started pulling the purple into us, mixing it with his own blue aura, and my gold, and returning it to Elias. He was sharing Elias' pain, in a serious sense. We couldn't take it from him, but we could share it, make it less.

Elias physically relaxed against me, his sobs subsided, and he quieted. When the auras were more evenly blended, Kyas released them, and sat back. Bending my neck over Elias' shoulder, I laid him back to the floor and laid down next to him.

Elias took a shaking breath, turned on his side toward me, throwing his arm over my back. "I'm not alone anymore." He said sleepily. I licked his face, rested my head and slept on the floor beside him all night.
