**Chapter 329: Underground Base**
Seeing that nothing happened, the Guard responsible for watching returned behind the Iron Door and closed it.
Little did they know, the moment the Iron Door opened, Xia Shang was already standing beside them. However, Xia Shang didn't stop, but walked towards the depths of the Base.
Along the way, he encountered more than one patrol of Guards, all carrying guns. Besides this, Xia Shang also noticed that along both sides of the Passage, there were individual, isolated Rooms. Some Rooms were empty, uninhabited, while others held Supes captive. The captive Supes appeared generally young, likely students from Godolkin University.
"Let me out, let me out."
Through the wall of the Room, Xia Shang saw a girl whose hands were wreathed in electric light, constantly smashing against the door. Her mental state seemed extremely unstable.
"Quiet down!" The Guard who came upon hearing the noise impatiently knocked on the heavy Iron Door with the butt of his gun. "If you don't stop, you won't get dinner tonight."
"Is this just a secret Laboratory researching Compound V?" Xia Shang glanced at the camera on the ceiling, then shook his head. This place shouldn't be as simple as he thought. Following the Passage, Xia Shang encountered another Iron Door. He knocked on it with his knuckles; it was very hard, likely made of some kind of alloy.
Because the Iron Door had a complex locking mechanism, Xia Shang couldn't guarantee opening it without damaging the lock. To avoid alerting anyone, he could only stand aside and wait.
Fortunately, he didn't have to wait long before someone in a white coat pushed the door open. "I need to rest. Shetty promised me I'd have some personal freedom."
The Guards listened, didn't say much, but reached out to stop him.
Just then, Xia Shang took the opportunity to walk into the Room. The layout inside the Room wasn't much different from a typical Laboratory. The only thing that caught Xia Shang's gaze was a piece of experimental data on the table.
Slowly opening the document, the contents couldn't help but surprise Xia Shang somewhat.
Unexpectedly, this Laboratory was actually researching a serum that could suppress superpowers, and it seemed to have already achieved initial results.
"Could it be that Stan Edgar isn't without a trump card, but rather his trump card hasn't been fully developed yet?" Xia Shang continued to flip through the document in his hand. Soon, he saw something even more interesting: any Supe injected with the anti-Compound V would immediately die after their superpowers disappeared, without exception.
"Whoever is researching this stuff is a talent." After learning the secret that Stan Edgar was hiding, Xia Shang put down the document in his hand and then began looking through other information.
In an experiment report labeled Luke Riordan (Golden Boy), Xia Shang learned that Golden Boy actually had a younger brother named Sam Riordan, whose superpower was Super Strength.
"Injecting Sam's blood into Golden Boy's body can increase Golden Boy's flame temperature. The limit Golden Boy can withstand has not yet been confirmed."
Looking at the line of text in the information, Xia Shang fell into brief thought. Sure enough, things weren't as Indira Shetty had said; Golden Boy's flame temperature didn't rely on time to increase.
After obtaining everything he wanted to know.
Xia Shang followed the Room number on the information and found the Room where Sam was held. He could see that the walls of the Room were full of dents, likely traces left from forceful smashing.
There was a small window on the Iron Door used for observing inside, but it was very small; even if someone were crumpled into a ball, they couldn't get in.
However, this wasn't a problem for Xia Shang. He extended his right hand towards the window, his index finger transforming into a slender and invisible tentacle. Without Sam noticing anything, it pierced into Sam's neck.
"What the hell is this?" The sudden pain made Sam subconsciously grab Xia Shang's tentacle, but even if he pulled hard, he couldn't break that invisible, snake-like thing.
"Two hundred milliliters should be enough. Any more, and I'm afraid even Golden Boy couldn't handle it." Xia Shang withdrew the tentacle, then looked at the blood pack bulging in his palm, nodding with satisfaction. He then found an opportunity and left the underground Base.
After returning to the Outside World, Xia Shang immediately used Parasyte Sensing and easily located Golden Boy.
"Looks like I came at the wrong time."
In a Room at the student Apartment, Golden Boy and Cate were engaged in a fierce battle. The two were locked in combat, the situation exceptionally intense.
Xia Shang watched for a moment, but quickly felt bored. It was just a few simple movements repeated over and over; how could that compare to the thrill of increasing one's strength?
With a flick of his finger, he shot the invisible tentacle into Golden Boy's body, injecting all of Sam's blood in one go.
"Why did you stop?" After realizing Golden Boy had stopped moving, Cate opened her eyes with a puzzled look on her face.
However, what met her gaze was Golden Boy's face, full of pain and flushed red.
"So hot!" Cate, as if burned by a red-hot piece of iron, shoved Golden Boy away.
"So hot, so hot." Golden Boy, his face contorted, seemed to have completely lost his sanity, repeating one word over and over. Furthermore, the bedsheets his body touched instantly ignited, the scorching flames spreading outwards like a tide.
"Water!"
Cate hurriedly rushed into the Bathroom, brought out a basin of water, and poured it onto Golden Boy on the bed. *Hiss!* In an instant, a rising cloud of steam quickly filled the entire Room.
But this water was undoubtedly a drop in the bucket for Golden Boy at this moment, completely ineffective.
The flames continued to burn, growing fiercer and fiercer. In just over ten seconds, the entire bed collapsed with a bang and turned into charcoal.
Could it be that the recent experiments were too frequent, causing Golden Boy to lose control of his own superpower?
At this moment, Cate didn't have time to blame Indira Shetty. Instead, she rushed out of the Room and frantically made a phone call to Indira.
"Golden Boy is out of control! I told you not to inject so much blood, he can't handle it!"
"Don't worry, I'll send someone over right away."
"How long will that take? I think he's going to set the whole Apartment building on fire." Cate watched the thick black smoke pour from the Room into the Corridor. Fortunately, it was summer break, and not many students were staying on campus. Otherwise, this fire incident would cause a huge sensation, not only lowering Golden Boy's ranking but potentially triggering even greater social public opinion.
"Relax. Since the incident has already happened, we need to minimize its impact. Make sure this isn't discovered and handle the aftermath properly."
"Understood."
Cate looked around. After not seeing any students, she let out a long sigh of relief.
