318. Chapter 317: Waiting from Morning to Night, Primarily Keeping a Promise
I had originally thought that Crimson Countess might refuse, so I made two sets of preparations and booked a room in a hotel. I didn't expect Crimson Countess's bottom line to be so low; she even thought Hughie wanted to try something different and eagerly came to the Underground Parking Lot.
Just as she was undressing for someone, I suddenly attacked her from behind. Unfortunately, I didn't gauge the force correctly and couldn't knock her out immediately.
She ended up falling onto Hughie's pants, making intimate contact."
"You can skip this part, otherwise you'll have to deal with me throwing up all over you." Hughie's face was extremely unpleasant. The thought of almost having a relationship with an old hag made his stomach churn with nausea.
If Soldier Boy knew what he was thinking, he would definitely step forward to correct him, after all, women are like fine wine, the older they are, the more fragrant and pure they become.
"OK, as long as you don't throw up on me, anything goes." Billy, with the word 'disgusted' practically etched onto his face, scooted to the edge of the sofa. Due to the side effects of the Temporary Compound V, Hughie might actually throw up on the spot, and Billy wasn't willing to take the risk, especially since he didn't have many clothes in his wardrobe.
"At that time, Crimson Countess, who had reacted, released red energy blasts from her hands, shooting towards Hughie's lower body. He was probably just a tenth of a millimeter away from saying goodbye to his little brother.
Fortunately, this guy, like me, injected Temporary Compound V. After leaving his clothes behind, he teleported to the Street. Oh, right, you can check the relevant news too; maybe you'll see someone's naked body."
As soon as Billy finished speaking, Hughie gagged and threw up everything that surged up his throat, all over Billy.
"Goddammit, I'm going to kill you! Hughie!" Billy, covered in vomit, wished he could just strangle Hughie to death.
"Shit! Shit!"
He cursed while wiping his clothes with tissue paper from the table.
"And then?" Mother's Milk held his breath and asked.
"I kicked Crimson Countess flying, denting the front of a car, then I carried the unconscious Crimson Countess and took her to the Basement. Oh Shit, did you eat durian this morning?" Billy rushed into the Bathroom, cursing as he went.
Watching Billy walk into the Bathroom, Hughie's lips slowly curled upwards.
"That felt good," he said, narrowing his eyes with a look of satisfaction.
"It's my bad luck to have met you two weirdos."
The unique smell lingering in the air was truly unbearable for Mother's Milk, so he got up, grabbed a mop from the corner, and started cleaning the Ground.
"What are you planning to do next?" Mother's Milk asked Hughie.
"Billy guesses that after Soldier Boy shows up, he'll definitely go find someone named Legend, so we plan to visit him next."
"Legend?"
"You know that guy named Legend too?" From Mother's Milk's tone, it wasn't hard to tell that he seemed to have dealt with Legend before.
Facing Hughie's question, Mother's Milk frowned and nodded.
"A few years ago, when I was working under Mallory, I had contact with Legend. At that time, he was the Vice President of Vought International responsible for managing Hero Media, similar in status to Mr. Jervis recently. I guess Soldier Boy is going to him likely to get information about his former teammates from him."
"To put it simply, his purpose for coming to the United States is revenge. So, after visiting Legend, we plan to find the still-living Mindstorm, the TNT Twins, and Black Noir."
"Black Noir? Just the two of you? Do you need my help?" As Mother's Milk wiped the sofa with a rag, his gaze lingered on a glass tube of pale green serum stuck in the crevice.
"It's enough for the two of us to handle the action; you don't need to get involved." Billy strode out of the Bathroom and into the Living Room, picking up the Temporary Compound V left on the sofa. "Acquiring strength that doesn't belong to you comes at a price. Hughie and I can bear this price."
"Since injecting that stuff has serious side effects, I still suggest you stop injecting it immediately. Don't forget, before we had superpowers, we could still cause Homelander and the others a lot of trouble." Mother's Milk advised.
After hearing this.
Hughie and Billy didn't speak, but remained silent, looking at the pale green liquid in the glass tube.
They were like two high-speed trains that had lost their brake systems; wanting to stop was easier said than done.
"Sigh."
A sigh full of meaning rose from both their hearts simultaneously.
...
A week passed in the blink of an eye. Soldier Boy stood at the agreed-upon location early in the morning, quietly waiting for Xia Shang's arrival.
Just like that, he stood there like a statue, from morning until night.
Around eight o'clock in the evening, Xia Shang finally arrived in his car.
Slowly stopping the car, Xia Shang looked at Soldier Boy and couldn't help but ask, "Buddy, when did you get here?"
"Got here at six in the morning, haven't left the spot." Soldier Boy naturally pulled open the car door and sat in the Co-pilot.
"Sorry, I thought you knew the start time of the charity gala."
A charity gala, as the name suggests, is an evening event. Xia Shang truly didn't expect Soldier Boy to arrive at the agreed-upon location at six in the morning and stay put.
"I know, but you told me to come early."
Soldier Boy turned his head to look out the window, as if the long wait hadn't affected his mood.
Perhaps in his view, as long as Xia Shang appeared before midnight, it wasn't a breach of promise.
"You really are... someone who keeps his promise." Xia Shang was momentarily at a loss for how to evaluate Soldier Boy, finally managing to squeeze out "keeps his promise."
However, Soldier Boy in the source material did indeed keep his promise. After agreeing with Billy and the others to kill Homelander, he kept looking for opportunities to take Homelander down.
Even later, when he learned that Homelander was his son, he still decided to fulfill his promise. Even when Homelander learned that Black Noir had a feud with Soldier Boy and was willing to help Soldier Boy kill Black Noir, it still didn't change Soldier Boy's idea of killing him.
Of course, the reason for this is complex and cannot be summarized by simply saying he kept his promise, but there is no doubt that Soldier Boy is a guy who takes promises very seriously.
"Did you find Crimson Countess?" Xia Shang rested his hand on the steering wheel and drove the car towards Vought Tower.
