Chapter 98 - Mark of the Monster

A deafening silence fell over the HQ room as Kiaan's fingers slowly tapped the photo displayed on the large screen. The face of Lt. Dr. Darian Voigt. The image was cold, digital, still—but for the first time, it had weight. The weight of truth. Of blood. Of screams no one heard.Kiaan leaned forward, voice low but sharp as glass."That man…" he pointed at the screen, his eyes unblinking, "…is exactly the man those three cadets described."

Rehaan stiffened, recalling the interrogations they'd run at the base just days ago—when the boys spoke in stammered, half-silent voices, too afraid to name anyone, too terrified to speak plainly.Zid's brows pulled together. "The scar… under the left eye."

Kiaan nodded grimly."A small mark, like an old burn or a surgical scar. All three boys described it without hesitation. That's not coincidence. And his age… he's clearly over thirty. Again—matches their description perfectly."Tara looked at the screen with a pale face. "They all remembered that one detail... the scar. Even though they tried so hard not to talk. It stayed with them."

Rehaan's fists clenched as the image zoomed in—Voigt's left eye was indeed marked. A pale, crescent-shaped scar just under the lash line, almost invisible if you weren't looking closely. But now, it glared at them like a warning.Kiaan turned toward them, voice darkening."He played god with those cadets. Used the uniform, the authority, and the medical room to violate the trust of the military system. And now, when someone like Maya tried to expose him—he silenced her." He slammed his fist against the table. "He thought he could vanish. But he left pieces behind. Scars on boys who didn't deserve it. A name that never showed up. And a scar that can't be erased."

Zid's voice was quiet but resolute."So what's the plan now?"Kiaan straightened, eyes blazing."Now we expose him. We break open every sealed file. Tara, hack into the sealed court martial records if you have to—I want everything. Every report, every whisper, every breath this man took inside that base. Rehaan, inform Interpol we've identified a primary suspect. And Dev—cross-reference every known medical supplier who's sold restricted sedatives in the last three months. He got them somehow."

Rehaan stepped forward.

"Should we issue an arrest warrant?"

Kiaan's stare was deadly."No."Everyone blinked, confused.Kiaan smirked—but it wasn't amusement. It was rage dressed in calm."We wait just one more day. He thinks we're still clueless. That's his mistake. We'll bait him. And when he comes close again—we won't need an arrest warrant."Zid asked cautiously, "So… what are we baiting him with?"Kiaan slowly turned his head toward the board behind him, then picked up a photo. It was of a new group of cadets scheduled to return home this weekend. He pinned one photo to the board.A boy, young, vulnerable. A decoy.Kiaan whispered,"With the right setup... monsters always return to where they fed last."
