Chapter Five – Her Old Pack Finds Her
The sun dipped low behind the jagged mountains, casting long shadows over the Thorn pack territory. The twins stood side by side on a cliff overlooking the valley, their eyes sharp and alert.
Kaien's voice was cold as steel.
"They won't leave her alone. Not after what happened."
Kairo's jaw tightened.
"Darius won't forget easily. Neither will the council."
News traveled fast in the werewolf world—faster than any wind. Rumors had already begun to swirl through packs far and wide: The Thorn twins had taken in a she-wolf who had been rejected by another Alpha.
Word of Selene Rivers' fall from grace had spread like wildfire.
At the edge of the Ironfang Territory, a lone figure watched from the shadows—Alpha Darius Blackwood himself. His face was unreadable, but his eyes burned with a mix of regret, jealousy, and fury.
"She belonged to me," he muttered, voice tight. "And I lost her."
Behind him, the council elders whispered warnings, urging caution. But Darius barely listened. He had made his choice once—too harshly—and now he wanted her back.
Meanwhile, within the walls of the Thorn stronghold, Selene stood by the window, staring out at the gathering dusk. Her heart pounded—not from fear, but from a complicated tangle of emotions.
The twins had given her a chance to heal, to reclaim herself. Yet her past wasn't done with her yet.
She turned as Kaien and Kairo entered the room, their presence filling the space with undeniable power.
"Whatever comes next," Kairo said, voice steady, "we face it together."
Selene met their gaze, a newfound strength blossoming inside her.
"Together," she agreed.
The night was dark, but for the first time in a long time, Selene felt the faintest glimmer of hope.
