The door clicked open, and before Sofia could even turn her head, she heard his voice—warm, low, laced with affection that immediately curled around her heart like a ribbon.
"Hey, how's your day, my love?" Adam asked, stepping into the room and setting his keys on the table.
Sofia's breath caught.
It never failed—the way he said those two simple words made something flutter inside her chest, soft and dizzying. But it was the way his eyes looked at her—like she was the only thing in the world that mattered—that made her feel entirely seen, completely his.
She sat up straighter on the couch, lips tugging into a soft smile. "It was fine," she replied, standing as he moved closer. "But I missed my husband. I heard he was quite the busy man today—visiting sites, chairing board meetings, conquering the world."
Adam chuckled, already reaching for her. "I missed you too. So much."
