Sofia couldn't stop thinking about Minerva.
All evening, she'd searched for a moment—just one—to exchange a few words with Adam's mother. To ask if she was comfortable. To offer something resembling warmth. But Minerva had left so quietly, almost deliberately, as if she couldn't bear to stay a second longer than necessary.
And it stung. Not because Sofia expected affection—but because she still hoped.
Despite everything, Minerva was still Adam's mother. And Sofia, foolish or not, still longed for her approval. Maybe even her acceptance. She was prepared to be dismissed, judged, even insulted—but not ignored. The silence was colder than any words could've been.
She wanted to ask Adam about it. Why his mother had left without saying goodbye. Why she looked at her as though she were a problem to be endured. But Sofia kept the question locked behind her teeth, knowing it wasn't the right time. Or maybe... she was just afraid of the answer.
