Damien returned with Karmac and was given a place to stay with him. He had a real nice house in the suburban side of the city, for much richer people; there were even gods staying in that place. Damien was too tired, so he didn't even get to do much, and immediately went to sleep.
When he woke up, Damien made a plan."According to Chloe, the tournament will be held in a week by the Ganesha family. Now, since I'm not high-leveled yet, I need to do it... Karmac said entrance to the Dungeon isn't watched, but entering without Falna is akin to suicide, but it matters not to me... Since that's not the sort of power I have anyways.... I still have to deal with daily training.... I'll do it... And then head to the Dungeon... And experience at least the first or second floor."
With that, Damien trained. He ran laps around the house and did all of his necessary training. At the end he was given a mystery gift and it was a nice neat common dagger. It wasn't much... but it was what he needed at the moment, as he didn't plan on telling Karmac he's going to the Dungeon.
The Dungeon wasn't too far away, about an hour's walk. He arrived there at what he assumed to be 10 in the morning — he didn't have an exact clock, so he just went off his mind-clock. He looked at the entrance, and there were a few guards around. There were hundreds of adventurers running around, going inside, porters as well, a lot of Pollums.
As he approached the Dungeon one of the guards looked at him and said, "Hey you! I've never seen you here before?"
Damien nodded. "It's my first time here."
"Oh, you're a new adventurer? Nice... What familia are you from..." the guard asked.
Damien sighed and spoke, "None... I'm training for the tournament."
"What? Are you crazy? All trainees are going in with other adventurers! Where is your trainer?" said the guard.
Damien sighed again and spoke, "I have none, I'm going in alone... Just the first level! I know it seems like I'm not knowledgeable, but I have killed monsters before, outside the Dungeon... I won't go further than Level 1, don't worry."
The guard seemed annoyed as he spoke, "Look, kid; the Dungeon is a very bad place... You can die in there... Are you sure you wanna go through with this?"
Damien nodded and said, "I'm sure, yes."
"Ok fine... legally I cannot stop you... But I urge you to not do this! And I'll have to report you to the guild after you leave.... It's a hefty fine for doing this... Are you sure?"
Damien once again nodded and said, "Yes I'm sure. My name is Damien Ardent. I live with the merchant Karmac currently, on suburban side."
The guard wrote his name and address and said, "Good luck, kid, I hope you make it."
Damien smiled and nodded as he finally walked in.
...
As Damien walked in, he was greeted by the Dungeon walls. The place was surprisingly wide and dimly lit. Of course, Damien had no illusion into believing this was it—this was only Level One. It wasn't too surprising that it felt spacious; there were many others like him roaming about. He decided to walk a bit further in.
Eventually, the path branched into different corridors, all still very wide. Damien chose one that felt emptier and continued forward, dagger in hand. He moved quietly, his footsteps careful, until he finally spotted his first enemy.
A Kobold.
The two-legged furry beast had a dog's head, sharp claws, jagged teeth, and glowing red eyes. It growled low before rushing in, jaws snapping forward in an attempt to bite.
Damien, however, was prepared. With his new skill Mind's Eye, he could sense danger ahead of time, and with QuickSilver boosting his speed by 30%, he was much faster than before. The moment he dodged the bite, his dagger flashed toward the Kobold's neck. The blade pierced through before the creature could even scream. Blood burst out in a spray that Damien had to sidestep—then silence.
Seconds later, the body dissolved into light particles.
[Eliminated a Kobold. Gained 30 EXP.]
"Wow… That was much easier than I expected. But I shouldn't get too complacent… That's how people die."
He tightened his grip on the dagger and moved on.
A few minutes later, another Kobold appeared. Once again, the kill was clean. And so the grind continued.
After heading further in, Damien was surprised to see not one, but two Kobolds ahead. He prepared to face them—when suddenly Mind's Eye screamed at him to dodge. He leapt to the side just as a Goblin's club smashed the spot where he'd been standing.
An ambush—two Kobolds and a Goblin.
Damien took the opening to kick the Goblin square in the face, but one of the Kobolds lunged and sank its teeth into his arm. Pain shot through him.
"GAHHH!" Damien roared in shock, driving his dagger into the Kobold's head until it went limp.
The Goblin scrambled up and lunged again, joined by the other Kobold. Damien twisted away, slashing the Goblin across the back, sending it sprawling. The last Kobold leapt, but Damien countered, pinning it down and ramming his dagger into its chest. It dissolved into light.
He turned back to the writhing Goblin and ended it quickly, slitting its throat. Three kills.
[You have leveled up!]
It was his tenth kill of the day. At once, Damien felt his strength return, his wounds closing, his fatigue vanishing in an instant.
[You have gained 10 Extra Points.]
"Oh, nice! Does that mean I gain 10 points for each level?" Damien grinned as he checked his stats. He already had 3 from before, and now 10 more.

After allocating his points, a newfound confidence surged through him.
He looked around—and that's when he noticed it. A stairway leading down.
"So that's why there were three monsters here… Like a rite of passage before going deeper." He hesitated, considering. "I've been hunting for about two hours now… Maybe going to Level Two won't be too bad."
His grip tightened on the dagger.
"Let's do this."
