"From fear i woke up my cause"
Ren hazuki woke up after a deep sleep in his bed, he looked to the sides and saw his roommates, he got dressed and like every day of his life, he went to the regiment, where he trained every day, along with thousands of other young soldiers, between 17-20 years old
He trained with only one goal.. not to die in his first landing.
In that devastated world, humanity took refuge in islands, they were the only places where they could take refuge from those evils that haunted humanity... humanity has been reduced by 50%
Those "Calamities" took humanity's hope of survival and plunged it into swamps of despair and fear.
After a morning of routine training... as always, Ryo a 27-year-old man, tall, strong, and with burgundy hair, an ex "shikanzei" ordered with an imposing voice that was heard throughout the gym.
Ryo: ¡Airi wants you all in the lobby at 03:40 pm, she will set the date on which all of you will make your first landing or rather it will be your first battle as soldiers of the Greenland army!
Ren began to sweat, tremble, and breathe heavily
Ren (think ing) W-What..?! M-my first battle..? God... I have trained all my life since I have consciousness for this moment... what if I die? And if everything I did, the effort... the suffering I went through... was in v-vain..?
Ryo: Don't be late for the congress! Airi will be waiting for you
The sound of soldiers whispering things began to be heard
But Ren couldn't hear it, he was panicking.. he had never faced a calamity before, no one from there had done it, they were the new generation of soldiers, the cadets.. the weakest those who would go on the front line.. the first to die, the first to be forgotten

The hours passed slowly.. and well, the time to go to the congress had already arrived
Ren was nervous, 10,000 soldiers were standing in front of an altar, where Airi would go out to give her fateful speech... and then she went out
With an almost divine presence, Airi became visible on that altar, her hair was silver.. she was tall, her curves were tight because of her uniform, and her eyes... my god her eyes, they were blue.. that put anyone in a trance, she was a woman of about 31 years old, and she was the president of that island who took refuge from those monsters that people feared so much.. everyone respected her, everyone admired her, everyone praised her, and no one opposed her
And then she spoke
Airi: Do you know what your purpose is?
Silence
Airi: Die
Even a breath seemed noisy, no one dared to speak
Airi: "All of you... were trained since you were little... right? You didn't even wonder why, but…"
"I'll give you the answer."
Everyone was attentive.. nervous.. anxious, they were going to receive that answer that they had always been waiting for that answer that was always hidden from them
The only thing in that room was
FEAR.
Airi: Your only purpose here is to die.
Ren's eyes were wide open
Ren: no… n-no… why? why my destiny is.. Dying fighting against those things?
Ren: i want to SURVIVE!
