Emily couldn't let her feelings ruin her. So what if he was an Alpha? When they had made love, she hadn't seen him as that. She recalled the way he had handled her the night before, gentle, patient, and respectful. He had treated her like the woman she was, especially when he realized she was still a virgin. If he truly wanted to abandon her, why would he have bothered to touch her in the first place? Questions swirled in her mind as she struggled to find clarity. What was he doing on the field?
"Emily, you should go to sleep, okay?" Sia said, noticing the late hour.
"I don't care, Sia. I think I want to do this," Emily replied, her determination bubbling to the surface.
"Emily, it's obvious you aren't thinking straight. You know what? Stay in my room tonight. By the time you wake up, you'll feel better," Sia suggested, but Emily wouldn't listen.
"I want to see him. Since he is the Alpha, let's storm his palace. I just want to see him one more time. It doesn't matter," Emily insisted.
"Fine. How about we take the risk and visit tomorrow morning? I can't let you go alone. I don't trust them," Sia finally agreed.
At that moment, it felt as though a heavy weight had been lifted off Emily's shoulders. Gratefully, she nodded and laid down on Sia's bed, allowing sleep to take her. Throughout the night, she dreamt of the man she had shared a passionate night with, fantasizing about being with him forever after their reunion.
The next morning, Sia and Emily got dressed, the air filled with anticipation. Sia's heartbeat raced as she glanced at Emily, who seemed blissfully unaware of the potential dangers that lay ahead. Sia had heard countless stories about the palace and its inhabitants, and she felt a knot of worry tighten in her stomach. Convincing herself that they would be fine, she took Emily into a commercial car, and they headed toward the palace.
As they traveled, Emily's excitement was visible; she smiled and chatted animatedly, while Sia remained tense, her guard up. Soon, the car arrived at the front gate of the Palace of the Shadow Pack and came to a stop. They stepped out, and Sia paid the driver to wait for them for an extra hour.
Sia approached the gate and knocked gently. A security guard opened it, eyeing them with suspicion.
"Who are you?" the guard asked, his tone curt.
"My name is Sia. This is my sister, Emily," Sia replied, trying to sound confident.
"Why are you here?" the guard inquired, crossing his arms.
"We are here to see the Alpha!" Sia declared, her voice firm.
The guard laughed, clearly amused by their naivety. Who told them they could see the Alpha just because they wanted to? He thought to himself. "The Alpha can't be seen right now," he replied dismissively.
"What do you mean he can't be seen? He is a werewolf just like us, and we are all equal. I need to see him. Please call him out," Emily said, her patience wearing thin.
Sia felt a surge of panic and discreetly pinched Emily, trying to signal her to back down. "Shut your mouth before I teach you a lesson," the guard warned, but as he saw Emily's determination, he knew he needed help. He mistakenly opened the gate and turned to go inside to call another guard.
What happened next shocked both Sia and the guard. Emily pushed the gate harder and barged into the palace without warning.
"Stop!" the guard yelled as he chased after her.
"Emily, please stop! Wait, Emily!" Sia shouted, but Emily didn't care, ignoring her friend's pleas. Sia entered the palace, her heart racing as she tried to catch up with Emily. By then, they had already created a scene; other omegas paused their activities to watch the unfolding drama.
Emily didn't care; she kept running, drawing closer to the main building. The sight of her fearless sprint sent a wave of panic through the guards, who feared losing their jobs. They joined in the chase, bewildered by the audacity of this newcomer.
Alpha Ethan was on the top balcony, sipping coffee when he noticed the commotion near the garden. He stood up, one hand in his pocket and the other holding his cup, moving closer to the railings. He could see a beautiful young woman running while others chased after her.
Using the mind link, he contacted his beta, instructing him to investigate the situation. After sending the message, he returned to his seat, a smirk playing on his lips. One thing was for sure: those guards would lose their jobs if she managed to enter his mansion.
Beta Joe headed out immediately upon receiving the signal. As Emily caught sight of him, fear gripped her momentarily, causing her to halt. The guards pursuing her also paused, unsure of what to do next.
"What is going on here?" Beta Joe asked, confusion evident in his voice.
"I don't know who she is. She is determined to meet with Alpha Ethan. I promise I tried to stop her," the guard at the gate said, trying to clear his name.
"Young lady, who are you?" Beta Joe asked Emily, his tone firm.
"My name is Emily. I want to see Ethan," she replied, her voice steady despite the tension in the air.
Beta Joe froze, taken aback by her boldness. "Address my Alpha with respect. You aren't a member of his family," he said sharply, and Sia felt worry wash over her for her friend.
"He told me his name was Ethan. There was no mention of an Alpha until I figured it out myself," Emily shot back, her spirit unyielding.
The tension in the air thickened as Beta Joe regarded her with a mix of surprise and irritation. He had seen many bold individuals in his time, but few dared to challenge the authority of an Alpha so openly. "You need to understand the hierarchy here," he said, trying to maintain control of the situation.
Emily took a deep breath, her heart racing. "I understand that, but I need to see him. I have to know why he left me without a word."
Sia stepped forward, sensing the escalating tension. "Please, we just want to talk to him. It's important," she added, hoping to diffuse the situation.
