"You! Will help me?" Avery finally managed to speak, her eyes wide as if she couldn't quite believe what she'd just heard. Her voice trembled somewhere between disbelief and suspicion, as if she was waiting for Silas to suddenly laugh and say 'gotcha.'
Silas, however, didn't seem to be joking at all. He simply shrugged, looking as casual as ever. "I mean, if you don't mind, I will help you," he said with that maddeningly calm tone of his.
"If we both work on the project, I promise we'll finalize it in just two days. Besides—" his gaze softened just a little "—you must remember most of what you did for your project, right?"
Avery blinked at him like her brain had short-circuited. "Uh… yeah," she mumbled, still dazed, still trying to process that Silas Blackwood was volunteering to do something nice.
